Advantages: CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MURDEROUS INTENT AND A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP SPENT...

Disadvantages: NONE, THEY ARE FABULOUS ONCE YOU GET USED TO THEM!

'Muffles for me'...Ahh, were a review that easy, hmm?

Cyber-tottering around dooyoo from time to time, I often browse for commodities close to my heart, or in this case - up very close and personal to my ear canals!

Therefore, I was delighted to discover 'Boots Muffles Wax earplugs' were already listed, along with a really in-depth and informative write up already on the site.
Excellent, as I really thought I was going to have to send a suggestion in to request these little treasures as a new product to cover on this here place.

In some ways it feels like these are some sort of secret solid elixir to the problem of broken/interrupted sleep, as I have had to recommend them on so many occasions to people who have never heard of the tiny pink marvels.

Wax ear-type barriers have been around for many years now, I have used them all my adult life, plus always bought them from Boots after a nurse kindly recommended them to my insomniac self one very tiring, arduous night in hospital long, long ago...
The complete contradiction at how noisy these health institutions are has always been a ridiculous concept to me - there you are, desperately needing to rest, but there is non-stop nocturnal hustle and bustle all around.

Why, in my opinion, these small solid cylindrical, flat-edged shapes should be given free on the NHS in dire times of need!

In an effort to try and block disrupting background noise out, I started off with the sponge alternative to ear noise barriers, but quite frankly they were hopeless; thus the knowledge that there was a much better sound-stopper out there was a complete revelation at the time!

My ex-hubby promptly bought me a pack containing 5 pairs within a very dinky, hand-sized box, and happily they made all the difference in the world!

Now these approx 1" in length by ½" width, these slightly tinted pink very hard petite plugs have changed very little over time; costing around the very reasonable £2.19 mark nowadays - plus literally worth their weight in gold!

On opening the light blue rectangle cardboard box, you will find two layers of earplugs along with a folded up paper 'Instructions For Use' leaflet.
Advising how to soften by rolling between two fingers, and then insert the bullet-like shapes into the ear after shaping like a cone - you will be amazed at how much noise they reduce...a miraculous difference I thought on first using the waxy, wonderful plugs!

The average weight of each individual one is 2.10 grams, and the instructions say to use constantly in a noisy environment, as your hearing needs protecting just as much as any of your other senses do...

There is a note on the outer carton stating to store in a cool, dry place, plus 'only for single use only'; although I use mine several times before discarding, as I have found they are fine to re-use.

A list of their advantages is as follows:

'Effectively reduces unwanted noise.
Suitable for use when swimming.
Soft and easy to shape.
Comfortable to wear.
Will not disintegrate in use'.

These harder-than-sponge wedges do take a bit of getting used to at first; they are quite a solid object to have within your ear cavity, but are so fantastic they are worth the effort!

Designed to obstruct unwanted noise levels they practically block pretty much any noise mostly out; but don't worry you would still hear a shrill fire alaerm screeching, or some sirens whizzing past!

Boots Muffles earplugs do exactly what they are designed to do, and I literally take them everywhere with me I travel to - be it an overnight stay in a potentially loud hotel, my frequent Inpatient hospital stopovers, and even on holiday with me...you'd be surprised at how rowdy it gets when you're away (or maybe not?)!

I have even needed them on long haul flights, as a restricted place like a plane can be a very disturbing environment as far as usual sounds that the brain will tune in to goes.

Plus, if you have a partner like *Bob* the boyfriend, who's snoring decibel levels would put a diesel-driven combine harvester to shame; then these little beauties could be the difference between your able-to-function-efficiently-in-daylight-life - OR his I-am-going-to-make-you-suffer-an-excruciatingly-sl ow-demise-if you-don't shut-the-hell-up-now death!

A 5 star essential toiletries bag addition at all times in my ultra-light sleep-mode insomniac world, and I really would not leave home to visit elsewhere without them!

Summary: IF YOU ARE A VERY LIGHT SLEEPER LIKE MYSELF, THESE LITTLE MIRACLE WORKERS CAN BE A LIFE SAVER!

Hubby uses these on long flights. He says they stop him from having headaches. Good review.

'Snooty' you really are a naughty girl, lol! :o))

I find screaming *Bob* really loudly into the offender's left lobe - followed by a stift clout around the ear usually gently rouses my Warthog of a boyfriend up nicely...mwahhh! x x

Must try these - my hubby drives me crazy sometimes with his snoring - I end up running my nails up and down his pillow to wake him up (try it, it's really annoying LOL!) ;-)
