I am sitting in my little dining-room with all the windows open. It isn't particularly hot in here but I am forced to let some fresh air circulate through the place. No one wants to sit here with me. Why? The Cabbage Soup Diet. If you want have friends, relations, or colleagues near to you, then don't even go there! This diet causes severe flatulence. No other description is needed here...imagine. This diet is based on low calorie intake and some users have claimed huge weight losses of 12-18 pounds in a week. I'm not convinced that this is possible and I am also concerned about the safety of such rapid weight loss. I didn't even get that far. Two days of having everyone avoid me was enough for me. The soup is simple to make and there are slight variations on the theme but basically this is how I made the 'evil concoction': Take two medium sized onions, 1 green pepper, Half a large white cabbage, Half a dozen sticks of celery, Two pints of stock. An onion soup mix. Chop everything up and boil until cooked. Yuk! This soup alone is not all you can eat. The soup can be used as required but you also need to stick to a calrie controlled diet. A calorie intake of less than a thousand calories will guarantee weight loss, even without the soup. The couple of days I spent following this one were enough. My stomach felt bloated and I hardly dared move because of the 'wind'. I also felt tired and could taste nothing but the foul soup all the time. It was almost as though the horrible taste and the constant burping put me off other food. The soup is salty and tasteless and it's real benefit seems to be in reducing the appetite. I certainly didn't fancy anything else to eat after I had been eating it. You can lose weight rapidly using this diet but you also need to almost starve your body of calories for it t
o work. The whole regime is very harsh. The main problem was the flatulence though. It really is no joke! A calrie controlled diet which includes all the essential food groups, vitamins and minerals is a far safer and much more pleasant way to loose weight.
