Advantages: Some people need it, and it can help people who've had accidents etc can feel "normal" again.
Disadvantages: People get too obsessed with it and have it for the wrong reasons.
There is one main reason that people get cosmetic sugery...vanity...! But there is a smaller proprtion of people who get cosmetic surgery for other reasons, sometimes medical reasons...i.e. people born with deformities for example. But it's called "cosmetic" surgery for a reason, and thats because for the main part people get it to enhance themselves cosmetically.
There are numerous parts of your body you can nip and tuck and make bigger or smaller. Starting at botox, through nose jobs, chin implants, liposuction, tummy tucks, breast impants, even bum implants...!
I can imagine that if your an 18 year old girl, with AA breasts and you feel you look like a boy, you've been teased your whole life for having "no boobs", that surgery is something which you need to boost your confidence and in that respect I do agree with cosmetic surgery...and I even think that in some cases the NHS will bump the bill...and if you not having the implants will result in you possibly harming yourself, then I agree that it is something which is needed...though i don't think tax payers money should be used by the NHS to do it......!
But..in these cases breasts will be made to be a modest size of a C cup, and not a ridiculous size like G or F...!
Now I myself have F cup breasts...BUT mine are all natural! Nothing less and nothing more than all mine, and they don't look stupid on me like they do with skinny women with fake boobs as I am in proportion unlike size 6 girls with F cup boobs!
Aside from the people who need to Cosmetic Surgery for the medical reasons, and the mental reasons like i described, there are other women....lets look at Katie Price to start with, she actually does look normal and desipte having big boobs, she doesn't look nipped and tucked...but how many boob jobs has she had!? And its only a matter of time until................................... JACKIE STALONE................................
We have all seen her with her mashed up face, her bee sting lips, and her cat eyes....she has become OBSESSED with cosmetic surgery...too obsessed!!! Which is the very big problem with it. People who have money become too scalpel happy and get too obsessed with getting surgery. They start with a little botox, then they think their boobs need a little enhancement, but then thats just not big enough, and then their lips are dull, and oh my those cheek bones need to be more defined....and so on and so on!
I myself have never had any kind of cosmetic surgery and I hope to god I never need any for medical reasons, and I wouldn't get anything done for cosmetic reasons! You need to learn to love what you have, wobbly bits and all!!!!! There is nobody who could make me believe that these people do this for any other reason than vanity, and to "look good", when all they look like is fake and end up been made of more plasic than a Barbie Doll!!!
Yes men might like to look at those girls in the magazines with the big fake boobs, and their botoxed faces. But they're not real women...they're a fantasy far far away in dream land...and if there are men who want a girl with the big barbie hair, and barbie boobs, and 20 inch waist...then he's shallower than a paddling pool after a 6 month drout...and that isn't someone you want to spend your life with afterall!!!!
Cosmetic Surgery isn't the way to go, its all going to go South in the end anyway...and if you have implants in your various areas, all your going to end up with it sagging skin hanging off the bottom on them and they'll look worse than an 80 year olds boobs after 20 kids. Just stick to been natural!!!!!!!
Summary: In some respects its good, but people get obsessed with it!

- 04/05/09 I think this is a great discussion piece but perhaps more suited to speakers corner rather than on the consumer part of the site where, I think, the intention is to discuss the actual "product" - i.e. experiences of surgery. |

- 01/05/09 I understand why people do it but no matter how upset I am with myself I would never do it unless it was for medical reasons I am who I am. |
