EAR Classic Soft Earplugs
Advantages: They stay put, good price, can be reused
Disadvantages: Can leave my ears slightly sore and itchy
I simply could not sleep unless I used earplugs. My husband laughs at me, but really, I am such a light sleeper that anything, even the wind will waken me during the night and then I find I cannot get back off again. Using ear plugs has its plus points but I can only use certain ones as a lot of them either fall out of my ears or worse, they make my ears both sore and very itchy during the night and then the following morning. I have actually been to see my doctor before about itchy ears and he said I had inner ear eczema. When I told him I use earplugs every single night, he gave me a bit of a telling off and told me to stop it as my ears need to 'breathe', apparently.
I have tried the small orange pointed ones that Tesco sell, but I just hate the shape of these and they fall out quite soon after I've laid down so now I buy some from Amazon (with my Dooyoo miles!). I pay around £7 for 50 ear plugs and as they can be reused a few times then they do last me a good length of time. They also come in larger packs but last time I tried to order the larger pack Amazon had sold out.
These little earplugs are perfect for my ears and they really do hold their own in terms of blocking noises and staying put in my ears once I've inserted them. They are a golden yellow in colour and about 3m in length and they are lovely and soft and spongy as they are made from high quality polymer foam. The trick with these earplugs is to gently mould them with your finger and thumb before trying to insert them into your ear. It's no good doing what I did when I first tried to use these, and just merrily jabbing them into your ear! If you do this then they are sure to pop right back out at you!
I gently but firmly push the ends of an earplug together until it's moulded into a firm pointed flat shape and then gently push this into my ear whilst twisting it slightly at the same time. Once in place (especially when the earplug is really new) I can hear the foam inside my ears gently expanding so that it fills the whole of the ear and this is what prevents all noises.
These is no way I can hear anything at all with these earplugs in, not the wind, not even my husband's gentle snoring. The only downside for me is that they are quite bulky and as they expand inside my ears they can leave them feeling quite sore and itchy the following morning. I rarely wake up in the morning, however, with no earplugs in at all, as they do stay put throughout the entire night.
Overall, these are the best earplugs I've used to date (and believe me, I have tried loads). They are well worth the money and as they can be reused, they last for ages.
Summary: I've tried lots of brands but these are my preferred choice
