Earfit Comfort Foam Earplugs
Advantages: Cheap and work :)
Disadvantages: Not comfortable :(
Recently I went on a holiday to Ibiza. Of course being young, I wanted to experience the Ibiza nightlife to the full, but I also wanted time to relax!
We went to a really nice 4 star hotel in San Antonio bay, and the entertainment was good. Unfortunately however, we were on the bottom floor and had a room a few metres from the stage where a disco/entertainment occurred at 10am and 9.30pm. We arrived at the hotel the day of travel, about 12 in the afternoon, but travelling since 2am UK time we were knackered! It was unbearable trying to get to sleep while such a loud riot was happening merely metres away.
Fortunately, I was prepared! My mum had been harassing me for ages to consider getting earplugs before I go on holiday, as she warned me this situation would happen. I bought these earplugs pictured for a random price of £2.03 off amazon (not including delivery however!). I didn't have high expectations as I knew for the price, I probably wouldn't be guaranteed much. But they worked! Whosever idea it was to have a disco at 10am in the morning in Ibiza, I could slap them. But with these earplugs it didn't matter. I'm not a heavy sleeper anyway, but somehow through the noise and disruption, I did manage to sleep!
The earplugs work by squeezing them into a thin long shape and then pushing them into your ear holes. At first I didn't think they made a difference, but you have to be patient, it takes a while. Once they're in your ears, they then slowly expand, forming against the natural shape of your inner ears. I can't give you an exact time, but I'd roughly say it took about 10 minutes for the earplugs to fully expand for the highest potential.
I wouldn't say they blocked completely all sound, I could still hear the murmur of vibrations coming from the fun-filled disco outside. But in the end, I managed to sleep, which was all that matters. As for the 'comfort' side of these foam earplugs, I wouldn't say it meets their claim. I found it rather uncomfortable having these in my ears and if I laid on my side, it put quite a lot of pressure on my ears and hurt a little. I had to sleep facing upwards which I don't usually do, so from this perspective this was a downside.
Overall though, for the price I was pleasantly surprised by how much sound these managed to block. I definitely recommend them. The worst thing possible is to have a hangover in the morning with a deathly disco blasting out at 10am. These earplugs made it bearable!
I give these 4.5/5 overall. I would give them 5 except they didn't meet the claim of being 'comfortable'.
Summary: Good value for money ear plugs that can save you some sleep.
