Advantages: Might help you shed some pounds
Disadvantages: none
A little of what you fancy does you good. How many times have we heard this saying? For me, I really think it's true. As long as we eat sensibly, nad by that I mean fresh vegetables, protein, carbohydrate in relative portions (i.e more veg than protein and more protein than carbs) then you can't go far wrong.
Important things to look at when you're trying to either loose weight, or maintain a significant weight loss are:
Portion control - eat till you are full, and then stop. Don't let yourself get to that bloated-oh-my -lord- I'm-going- to -pop stage. Let your body tell you when it's had enough, and learn to listen to it.
Fat - be aware of how much fat is in things like crisps and biscuit - by all means have them if that is what you fancy, but don't kid yourself that you can get rid of the calories and fat by doing a few leg stretches while you're washing the dishes or waiting for the children to pile out of the car. Don't have them if you're going to be guilt ridden for the next century - have an apple instead!
Drink plenty - quite often we eat when really what our bodies want is fluid. If you're feeling peckish, try having a glass of water first, and see if you're still hungry afterwards. Nine times out of ten you'll find that you're not hungry anymore!
Get your sleep - not sleeping or sleeping at the wrong times can have a dreadful effect on your insides, making you feel like eating lots of carbohydrates when what your body really needs is just a good nights' rest. Your body needs sleep to rebuild and rejuvenate itself, so don't deprive yourself of a nice bit of shut eye!
Try to cut back on fizzy drinks - non-diet ones are just full of sugar, and even the diet ones, whilst fairly non-calorific, are full of what I call Fake sugar, which is just as bad for you in other ways. Drink green tea and lemon, or water, and have de-caffinated tea and coffee on hand for if you want a hot drink.
Full Fat Cheese. This is one of my downfalls - I love it. Try half fat versions from places like Tesco and the Co-op. Half the calories, half the fat, and you can have a little bit more on your pasta without feeling the tremendous weight of guilt that comes with full fat cheese.
Excersize. Walk up the stairs at work instead of taking the lift, walk to the paper shop instead of taking the car. Pull your tummy and bum in when you're walking. Stretch when you get out of bed in the morning. Smile, dance and be happy in your skin, and you'll find that all that excess weight drops off you. We only keep what we think we need. When you realise that you don't need the protection of a second skin, or the comfort of another chocolate bar or plate of chips, you'll sharp notice the difference in what you each, how much of it you eat, and how often.
Above all else, be who you are, and never, ever conform to someone else's opinion of how you should look, or what sixe you should be. Stand up and be proud, whatever your shape.
Thanl you for reading, I'm off to my weight watchers class now to be further inspired! For anyone interested in Weightwatchers, I have written a review on it, take a look and let me know what you think.
Happy Day! Kate x
Summary: Be who you are and don't ever conform to someone else's standards or opinions!
