Papaya is a low Energy fruit and helps in controlling weight. There are other enormous health benefits of eating Papaya fruit.

Papaya is a delicious fruit. A soft and butter like fruit it has tremendous health benefits. It is full of vitamins and minerals and low in calories, thus making it a perfect diet for people who want to control weight and remain healthy. 100 gms of Papaya gives about 30 Kcal of energy. It was sometimes called “ Fruit of Angels” by Christopher Collumbus.

Papaya is rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, folate, potassium and Magnesium. So it keeps your eyes(Vitamin A) and Skin(Vitamin C) healthy. It is fibrous fruit and thus good for stomach and lever.


Papaya’s fibrous properties helps to bind toxins and beta Carotene further avoids damage to Colon by free radicals, thus Papaya is a fruit which keeps away colon cancer. So it is anti-cancerous.
Papaya is anti-Oxidant and this property of Papaya does not allow Cholesterol to oxide, because only the oxidized form of cholesterol forms blockage in blood vessels. So taking Papaya regularly helps in keeping cholesterol low and thus avoids heart problems even strokes. So a good food for heart patients.
The Papain present in Papaya helps to form some digestive enzymes and is a good protein digester. Papain is also used in medicines to aid digestion. If green papaya is used in meat or chicken cooking, the papain of papaya helps to soften the non-veg and thus we get a tender form of cooked chicken and mutton and also we get the enzymes to digest protein.
Beta carotene and Papain are both anti inflammable. Thus Papaya is also a good medicines in injuries and pains. It gives relief to the patients from pain of bruises and other skin injuries.

Papaya is found in tropical countries. It is available throughout the year. But off late USA and other European countries also have good supply of Papaya fruit. It is available in spherical as well as pear shape. It is reddish yellow in colour when ripe. While purchasing a Papaya, check that there are no cuts and bruises as any cut or bruise will act attract bacteria and even fungus is found on these points. A ripe papaya to be selected if we want to eat it the same day. Slightly raw Papaya (Green and yellow state) can also be purchased and kept in a paper bag or simply wrapped in a newspaper to ripen it in 2-3 days. If the room temperature is more than 25 Deg C or a warmer climate even assists it ripen more early.
Papaya can be eaten as a Salad or as a fruit. We can also apply lemon juice and salt on it to make it further tasty. The skin of Papaya can be peeled, cut the Papaya in two halves and separate inner black seeds. The black seeds are also edible, but they contain a poisonous substance and hence not advisable for eating. Cut the Papaya in pieces and eat for your health. Do not store the Papaya slices for long time even in a refrigerator. It is unhygienic; it has to be eaten after slicing. Freeze it as whole Papaya and then cut it to enjoy its eating.

Experience of Eating Papaya Regularly: My mother in law was detected 80% Blockage in heart artillery in 1999 and since then has been taking Papaya regularly in breakfast and to our surprise the blockage % has come down drastically and she does not feel like any heart patient.

Summary: Eat Papaya and control your weight, cholesterol and forget about cancer.

good review.But I hate Paypaya. My friend in India nearly always bring one for when we have finished diving. They taste like vomit to me!! I have tried to like them as they are so good for you.
