      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A great invention!

Do you, like me have to take a lot of tablets? I do sadly on a daily basis as I have several health issues. I'm not complaining though about that particularly however what I used to complain about though is the size of some of the tablets I'm expected to swallow!

Is it me or are tablets getting bigger and bigger? For me this is the worst part of my day trying to drink copious amounts of liquid along with a pill the size of my head and if I don't manage to swallow it I usually either get a hot burning sensation in my throat and the likes or am sick!

A friend actually told me about a tablet splitter when one morning I was complaining and showing her the size of one of my tablets. Her mum uses one of these regularly and so when I was recently in my local Boots store I asked behind the counter for one and was directed to this contraption to which I ended up purchasing after a little thought to whether I would use it or not.

      The Packaging:

The tablet splitter comes in a see-through plastic bag with the top part being covered and secured with a white piece of card which is able to hang instore and the likes and on that we are shown a photograph of someone using it and told that it is Tablet Splitter 'Divides tablets quickly and easily. Includes a storage department', Health & Hygiene and that it is a Homecraft product. On the back of that card we are told a bit about the product and contact details for Homecraft are given. Simply but still informative enough packaging this is.

      The Tablet Splitter Itself:

Well I have only seen this available in one colour option and that is the colour I have sat in front of me right now and that is blue and made from a sturdy thick plastic.

Appearance wise it is oblong in shape and a unit. In two connected parts you have a lid and a base with the lid being slightly curved and it all flips together. Open it up you have two storage compartments for tablets that isn't huge but big enough to store halved tablets in and above that a triangle raised plastic section to which you pop your tablet in, snap the top down and in that lid I have just mentioned there is a sharp, small stainless steel blade that goes through a tablet easily and snaps it in half with no fuss at all.

Simple to do, this really is though not suitable for gel or capsule tablets.

I find this a great bit of kit, great quality and straightforward to use however I do struggle to open the unit back up after splitting the tablets in half and it taking me ages and effort to reopen it as it really does secure itself.

This is a safe and effective tablet splitter though. Because of that stiffness of opening it is rather safe should it fall into little hands thought a slight pain for me as a grown up! I like the fact that even large tablets can be split with no effort as the blade just goes straight through tablets with no issues at all and no mess is created whatsoever though for someone with no children it is a bit too safe at being opened in my case!

At £6.12 in Boots (and in other good chemists and online) this is worth the money it costs if you struggle and dread taking tablets in my humble opinion!
