Advantages: Extinguishes Dragon's Bad Breath

Disadvantages: Reduces the effects of eating a garlic pizza

I find Listerine Cool Mint is a lot more more palatable than Listerine Original with its medicinal flavour and appearance. Unlike Listerine Original, Listerine Cool Mint doesn't look like something you could use to clean hospital floors. The taste is pleasant and just as importantly the colour matches the walls and interior décor of my en suite bathroom with walk in shower and steam room.

According to the manufacturers Listerine Cool Mint not only extinguishes a dragon's bad breath (and I've been hijacked by a few of them under the mistletoe), but is also promoted as an accompaniment to toothpaste and a cure for tooth decay and gum disease. It probably does help, but you can overdo it and excessive mouth cleaning can cause more problems than no cleaning. Listerine is still the number one selling mouthwash in the UK and can be purchased at most supermarkets and chemists for between £2.50 and £3 for a 500ml bottle.

I only ever use this product on rare occasions as I don't smoke and do maintain a healthy mouth maintenance regime. As someone who adores garlic on their pizza and in their pasta sauces I find a quick swig and swill or two of cool mint helps reduce excessive garlic odours after meals. Indeed, after a quick swill of Listerine Cool Mint one cannot deny the refreshingly clean feel in one's mouth afterwards. I usually fill the bottle cap half full and then dilute with water. This is enough for one swilling session. I never put the pure mouthwash in my mouth as it contains over 20% alcohol and I just don't think it's a good idea. Of course you should never swallow it. No doubt germs are terminated and, although I myself have never suffered from bad breath, for those who do suffer from chronic halitosis, a bottle of Listerine in the bathroom cabinet is surely an essential requirement.

Summary: The best selling mouth wash in the UK
