Medisure 7 Day Pill Reminder
Advantages: reminds me to take pills, good sized boxes, braille for those who need it, cheap
Disadvantages: not childproof but not an issue for me, having to take tablets in the first place
I take alot of tablets each day, in the morning I take several different supplements plus some painkillers then in the evening I have to take 6 different tablets again for pain relief. This can obviously get a bit confusing and I tend to lose track of what I've taken and it's easy to overdose on prescription medication so I recently bought myself a couple of these 7 Day Pill Reminder boxes to help me keep tabs on it.
I bought 2 so I could keep one upstairs for my nightly dose of painkillers, previously I was fumbling around in the glow of a lamp trying not to wake my partner up with rustling and crackling as I popped various pills out of their blister packs. Needless to say I often managed to wake him even when I started doing this in the bathroom instead. The other problem with this method was worrying about if I'd managed to get each tablet in my mouth and not dropped any on the floor where my boys (cats) might find them. So one of these boxes stays downstairs for my morning tablets and another upstairs in the bathroom.
Each box is made of tough plastic and about 20cm long. That makes it too long for our bathroom cabinet so mine has to reside on top of it. Each day has one compartment which will fit plenty of tablets in it, they measure about 3cm by 2 cm and are a couple of centimetres deep so unless your medication is of the horse pill variety they will suffice for most people. Helpfully each day has braille on it for people who can read braille and for those of us who don't and can see they are marked with the blue initial of the day.
The boxes are washable, simply wash as you would the dishes, give them a good rinse and dry thoroughly before restocking with your tablets. Amazingly these fantastic items cost 99p from various places online but I bought mine in Boyes.
For me they are a godsend, no more wondering if I've taken my tablets and no more rustling around in semi-darkness trying to get all my medication sorted out. In the morning I just empty the contents of the downstairs one onto the counter and swallow them one by one with water and before I get into bed I do the same with the one upstairs in the bathroom. The only noise I make now is a bit of a rattle as I tip the tablets out and a click as I close the lid on that days compartment. Each compartment is secure but not childproof so if you have children you will need to keep these out of reach, I don't have children so it's not such an issue for me but I still like to keep them somewhere safe.
Overall I can't fault these and it works well for me to have 2 because my evening dose of tablets make me very drowsy very quickly so having one upstairs and one downstairs is perfect. If you take tablets in the morning, afternoon and evening you would be ok with these boxes but may prefer one of the types with more compartments per day. The braille is a nice touch and extremely handy if you need braille and only having to sort out my various tablets once a week is so much easier than doing it daily. A full 5 stars from me, I no longer have to wonder if I remembered my tablets and put up with a very pain-filled day because I didn't and I can take them quickly and quietly.
Summary: Highly recommended
