When it comes to hayfever problems I can suffer on and off throughout the year. At last I'm finally able to wave it goodbye but I had some very miserable days, particularly in the summer.

I haven't always suffered and it only started for me 10 years ago and came out of the blue. I never forget cos up until that point I was generally a healthy person and believed I had a simple cold and when I was told I was a hayfever sufferer I remember thinking my life is so over! I love the sunshine and felt I'd never really enjoy it again. For years I have actually found that to be true in my case and have truly battled to find anything that helps me.

The moment I wake up I can feel groggy and my eyes hurt. I can't have any windows open at night even if it's roasting because the pollen is collecting outside early morning. Even if a pill treats my symptoms that doesn't stop the hayfever rash I get and I always have to use prescribed medication for that.

So I use pills, nasal spray, eye drops and a cream and usually I get all that from my Dr. However one day I went out thinking I was fine for the day and out popped the sun and it caught me out! I saw these priced at a special offer price of 20p in Lloyds chemist and was told that the next day they were going up in priced to £1.99, it was just an offer whilst they were new on the market. I actually grabbed a few boxes for that price not only for myself but for my Step-dad and friend who also suffers as I thought they were a good buy!

The Packaging:

Oblong yellow and white box with white, yellow and black writing on it and on the front I'm told they are Pollenshield Hayfever Relief, 7 tablets for oral use, 0ne a day, Cetirizine Hydrochloride for hayfever, runny nose and itching. On the back of the box I'm told a bit about the product, dosage advice and warnings are given and contact details for Actavis (the manufacturer of the product) are given. Open up the box there is a silver tray of 7 pills and a leaflet in there that again it tells you what is on the box and a few extra warnings etc. Nice enough box, nothing pretty about it but it's an informative enough.

A Bit About The Product According To Information Given:

Each Pollenshield Hayfever Relief tablet contains 10mg of the anthistamine cetirizine hydrochloride. Also contains Lactose.

Dosage:

Adults, elderly and children aged 6 years and over - 1 tablet daily. Swallow with water, milk or fruit juice. Do not give to children under 6 years.

Taking Them:

The little white pills are really tiny and really easy to swallow and as directed I simply took mine in the morning and ready for the day ahead with a large drink of water. They never repeated on me or gave me a nasty taste in my mouth at all and once taken I could forget about it.

Now I tried these on really warm, sunny days when I could sniff the pollen in the air so did they work?

Sort of. They're weird and they only kind of work for me. I found any effects I felt took a couple of hours first off to take hold. For me my eyes felt dry but not itchy but that only lasted a couple of hours before my eyes started really acting up again. I was still sniffly all day long and these made no difference to that but I did sneeze a bit less, but again it didn't stop me totally.

I felt that if you have mild hayfever symptoms that these are probably more than adequate for you. However if you have severe hayfever like me then they're really not worth bothering with at all. I felt little difference though a little and on the box these say they stop itching, well they certainly didn't for me in any way shape or form. I feel these are an incredibly mild treatment and me, I won't bother faffing about with these when there are far better treatments I could buy over the counter if need be in the future.

Available in all good supermarkets etc usually priced around £1.99 a box of 7 and as far as I'm aware this is the only size they are available to purchase in.

Summary: Not for me these!
