Advantages: Well priced, effective, variety of flavours.
Disadvantages: None.
We all get bloated now and again, some more than others. I have had a lot of stomach cramps and complaints for a number of years now due to different reasons, but indigestion is one thing that can be treated and prevented by taking antacid tablets. Sainsbury's Fruit Flavoured Antacid Tablets are a cheaper alternative to the branded products. Antacid tablets can be taken just after foods such as a spicy curry, I usually take them before bed if I have eaten a late night snack.
I don't really see a difference between these antacid tablets and the more well-known branded ones, but I find that they are a lot cheaper so I look out for the supermarket brands. The box is similar to most Sainsbury's medication, with a white and dark green box with details outlining the product name etc. The tablets contain 500mg of Calcium Carbonate which is the ingredient that relieves heartburn and indigestion. Inside the box there are four individual foil sheets with a dozen tablets on each one, which can be pushed through the foil to release them.
The literature with the tablets informs that they are helpful for digestion, acidity, dyspepsia, heartburn and flatulence. You are also informed ot suck or chew 1 to 2 tablets if you are an adult or child over 12 years old. A maximum of 16 tablets in a 24 hour is advised, but I cannot imagine taking that many!
The tablets themselves come in a variety of flavours; blackcurrant, orange, lemon and cherry. Each flavour is coloured appropriately so you can pick which flavour you want. I don't have any preference and take any flavour, but some may be more selective. I like the choice and it also gives me a bit of variety. I do find these tablets a little chalky and they can dry your mouth out, but they aren't anywhere near as such products used to be years ago.
The effects of the tablets are that my stomach doesn't get awful cramps and heartburn and indigestion are either quelled or prevented (depending on when I take them), so I would safely say they do work. A large pack of 48 tablets costs around £1.50 from Sainsbury's, so they are priced very competitively against branded alternatives. Personally I think there is no question that the Sainsbury's Fruit Flavoured Antacid Tablets are value for money.
Summary: The smart choice when it comes to antacid tablets.
