At Christmas time I wanted to lose half a stone quite quickly. I have been maintaining my past two years weight loss for a number of months now but had found myself struggling to get back in to the very healthy eating that I followed before. It was for this reason that I decided to follow the Slim Fast plan for 2-3 weeks to help me lose my 7lbs.

I love the simplicity of the Slim Fast plan and there is basically no thought that needs to go in to this. The plan that I chose to follow was two shakes (breakfast & lunch), two snacks (Slim Fast bars/snacks) and then a healthy dinner in the evening. On two occasions I ate takeaways in the three weeks I was being 'good' and I did manage to lose my 7lbs by the end of the three weeks. I picked up a wide variety of the Slim Fast products as I have tried them in the past and been very pleased with most of them. I decided to make my own milkshakes to try and save some money. The ready to drink milkshakes appear to be around £1.50 but this way I could make my own milkshake for about 60-70p depending on the price I paid for the milk I used with this (usually skimmed extra filtered supermarket brand milk). When mixing my milkshakes I used a specially designed shaker to ensure that everything was mixed well and there were no yucky bits for me to swallow and be put off by!

This flavour is absolutely yummy and is probably my favourite! This tastes quite like a milkshake and I love that there is just under 250 calories per serving. I felt great knowing that there was such a small amount of calories in this and yet the taste was pleasant and definitely not unbearable like I worried it might be. There is quite a delicate strawberry flavour to this and while it does taste a little bit artificial this is just what I expect with most milkshakes that are not blitzed up in my food processor!

Two heaped scoops of powder and 250ml of very cold skimmed milk is all that is needed for this milkshake. The scoop comes provided with the tub of Slim Fast which is great as I know I am using the right amount each time. I always make my shakes and drink them within a few minutes to ensure that they are ice cold. I have found that if the milkshakes get even a little bit warm that it does not taste quite as nice and can just become a little off putting eventually.

I have been very pleased with Slim Fast and would definitely do it again if I wanted to drop some weight in a short amount of time. I did find that I had become quite hungry and a little bit unhappy by the end of the 3 weeks so I was happy that my stint was over. I have maintained my weight loss and overall have been very pleased with the milkshakes, this one in particular.
