Opinion Follows Update.

Well for a couple of weeks now I have decided to go on a diet after christmas, but because I have been thinking about it soooo much, I have decided I cannot wait, after all there is 4 weeks till christmas and I reckon I could lose 7lbs by then!

I am presently 10 stone 2lbs (size 14-16)and for my height I should be 8 1/2 stone - it should really be 8 stone but I always look ill if I go that low!

It is 12.07pm and I have had my brekkie slimfast and now am really looking forward to my lunch slimfast! I am moderatley hungry at the moment but I am always at least moderatley hungry at this time of day, so I am doing ok!

I have decided to do 2 slimfasts a day and a decent sized non calorie counted (but sensible)evening meal. I am also going to buy some lowfat slim bars and muller light yoghurts (these are a godsend as they are quite filling and only around 100 cals a pot)

I really want to stick to this as I am unhappy at my present size, and always will be, I am hopeing to get to a size 10-12 by Valentines day!

I have decided to give updates on my diet week by week and would really like to hear from others dieting at the moment for support and motivation. Watch this page!!!

END OF WEEK 1: Been doing the diet for just over a week now, and yes it has been hard, but I am getting results, my face has slimmed down and my jeans are comfortable. I have lost about 3lbs in weight. I find it really useful to get up and do things if I feel hungry, it takes your mind of it. I am not craving sweet things - what I want is a pizza (not normally keen on pizza) ah well into week 2 I stride with slightly less positive thoughts than last week. Hunger does strange things to you!

CHRISTMAS UPDATE

Well its nearly two weeks after xmas, and I did not put on any weight over the festivities - in fact I lost 1lb. I have now lost a total of 11lbs, and feel great! If I can lose another 11
lbs I will look like a total babe! lol! I have gone from a size 14-16 to a baggy 14 and even a 12 in some cases, and people are starting to comment on my weight loss. Yes I am still doing slimfast, and all I can say is that it is working for me!

FEBRUARY UPDATE

Hurrah everyone, I a now a size 12 all over, can't tell you how good it feels! The diet has gone slightly pear shaped (hardly ever having slim fast now) but I am trying to eat less and I do exercise most days now (between 6-10 miles on an exercise bike) and I bought me one of those Rio Slim Gyms to tone my still flabby bits (of which there are loads). I have now lost a total of 16lbs!

People comment on my weight loss all the time now, been called skinny even!!!!

Anyone on a diet or starting one, don't give up, you CAN do it! If you feel hungry then have a drink or do some housework (really takes your mind of it).

I will let you all know when I reach my target weight of 8stone 7lbs! Only 7 to go!

UPDATE 3/5/01 Well everyone I have reached my target weight of 8 stone 7lbs (which is a total loss of 23lbs!)and I am now a size 10! It took 5 months and it was only hard for the first 4 weeks! Now I eat when I am hungry and do not worry about mealtimes - I feel so much better and now feel in control of food! Hurrah - hope for everyone because if I can do it so can you!

ORIGINAL OPINION. I STILL STAND BY IT!!!!

I have tried slimfast a few times now, and if taken correctly it is quite a good way to lose weight in the long term.

Chocolate is the only flavour I have tried as I can't stand strawberry flavoured things and banana does not appeal.

Slim fast costs about £6.00 a tin and will last 12 servings. The taste is not unpleasant (it should definatley be well mixed, in a liquidiser preferably)the taste has a slightly grainy texture - due to the fibre- and it is important to rememeber to drink a lot of fluids
after the shake (this makes the fibre in the shake absorb the liquid and 'fill out' in your stomach making you feel more satisfied), if you don't drink enough you will be v hungry!

The first 2 days are rough, but after this you will get used to eating less and feel less hungry, so perserve!

On useful thing to note is that Boots version Nutraslim, is much nicer has the same calouries etc and costs £5.89 a tin for 12 servings.

I wish you luck with SlimFast. It is now 10/12/02. I have been using SF twice a day since July 20, 2002 and have lost 37 pounds. Twenty of those pounds was in the first month.

I do love the strawberry and the banana both and those are my mainstays. I prefer the cans of SF. I buy them at Wal-Mart and they were 8 for $4.44. That was on a promo from SF, but now they have stopped putting in the two extra cans and we have to pay the same price. Because of this, I may have to to to Costco and get the Kirkland brand. The rub here is that they only have it in Vanilla and Milk Chocolate flavors so far, but the price is slightly lower than Wal-Mart now.

I do not just use the SF as a meal. I usually add fruit and nonfat yogurt. My favorite recipe is ten frozen strawberries, strawberry nonfat yogurt, three packets of artificial sweetener all blended together. It is totally awesome that way and tastes just like a milk shake. If you are on the Weight Watchers Program, the SF is 4 points, the yogurt is 2 and the fruit is 1. That makes the total points to be seven for the meal.

Note: The problem with just using the SF by itself is that it has a mess of carbs and after about 4 hours your blood sugar will drop like a rock and you may get a bit jittery and hungry. The fruit and yogurt makes it happen!

I sorta wish that the SF folks would find a way to put in a little more protein and a little less carbohydrates. That way there wouldn't be the sudden blood sugar drop.

Remember the old Orange Julius? The way it used to be when they only thing they sold was Orange Julius? Well it was incredible! The closest thing I have tasted to that is the Orange/Pineapple SF, Orange nonfat yogurt and the three packets of artificial sweetener. Blend that all together and WOW! (No fruit) So it is only 6 Weight Watcher's points.

If you like bananas (and I do!) you can try the banana cream SF, nonfat banana cream yogurt, and a frozen banana. (Note -- You can slice up a banana into segments about the size of a strawberry and freeze them in a zip-lock bag.) Note that Weight Watchers considers a banana to be worth two points, not one like other fruit. Again, it like a banana milk shake.

There are other combinations I like as well. Please feel free to email me with your special SF recipe suggestions at Spoguy@hotmail.com.

Best wishes for success!
