Advantages: Effective, Convenient
Disadvantages: Cost!
I have always been fairly fit, size 10 - 12, 10.5 stones and 5ft 9inches. Some may say I was too thin, but I was very happy with the way I looked. I have always struggled with my weight, at one point having an eating disorder and using laxatives. I put on 4 stone when pregnant, and despite expectations, when I gave birth to an 8lb baby, I was still 4 stone heavier! Something had to give (so to speak). At 14.5 stone I was a wreck. My thighs rubbed together, I had boobs like barrage balloons and I felt appalling. I started doing the Kellogs Diet (you know the one, Cereal for Brekkie and lunch, and a lowfat dinner) and it worked for a couple of weeks, but only losing 4lbs. I had no time to go to the gym, and felt to dispondent to go anywhere near fit people. Anyway, my husband is a fitness instructer and he said we should eat more healthily... but when we opened the fridge everything was lowfat, healthy range already! So I started on slimfast. It is ideal - I buy the ready made drinks which are 99p a can, available in coffee, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and banana, and they can be a bit rich first thing in the morning! You can buy tins which make 12 portions and they are £5.99 from supermarkets. Did it work? Well, I am now 12.5 - having lost 2 stone in 5 months - I now need to loose the same again to be happy. The only downside is that I didn't eat breakfast before and to start with didn't have a brekkie slimfast as I thought I would put on extra weight - but it doesn't work like that. Apparently, the first shake of the day sets off your metabolism and stops you starving to death by lunchtime. I drink loads of water and eat a lot of fruit and find this gets me through the day - another tip is to have a good hearty lunch and a shake at dinner time. (If you are eating normally it is breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper - so you
can work it out for yourself). Wish me luck - I have a way to go and I will keep you informed, but the key thing is to exercise every other day - I go for a very slow jog for 25 minutes and this helps speed things up a bit. I would recommend this as a dietery aid - but only with regular exercise - and don't mix slimfast and weight watchers - on WW I was allocated 19 points a day and a slimfast is 11 points a can!!!!

- 13/05/02 I've used Slim Fast before & have lost weight on it. |

- 13/05/02 I lost weight using this about four years again. However, the weight has crept back on and I'm just about to go on it again. I find that it works for me 'cos I can never be bothered to make my lunch in the mornings before work therefore the cans are ideal. Good luck with your continued loss:) |

- 13/05/02 I have had success with this regime on a couple of occasions. I prefer the ones you make up fresh and find them more filling. The ready made cans are great to take to work though. I am currently doing the Atkins diet. It seems to work quite well! Kim :-) |
