Advantages: Quick to make, tasty
Disadvantages: Only a few flavours
After all the over indulgence at the christmas holiday's I decided to try and lose a bit more weight.
I have been going to the gym but have eaten lots of the wrong foods over christmas.
Today I went out and bought two packets of Slimfast soups, these cost me 2.99 each at Safeways.
The flavours are Seasoned chicken with sweetcorn and croutons and Garden vegetable with peppers and croutons.
Sound tasty don't they?
These soups come in cardboard cartons with a bowl of the stated soup on the front.
Each carton of soup contains three individual foil wrapped packets of instant soup.
These are created by Knorr, who make other soups too. There are 23 vitamins and minerals plus fibre in each bowl of soup.
There are 209 calories per serving, each soup is a replacement for one meal and I'd suggest only replacing one meal a day, crash dieting hardly ever works as you'll find the quicker you take weight off the quicker you put it back on again when you do stop dieting.
I think a thousand calories a day intake is enough to lose weight.
To make these soups, you open the packet (lol)
Pour the powder into a bowl and add hot water.
250ml it says on the packet, but I just add the water untill I get the required consistancy that I like, I prefer a thick soup not a watery one.
Wait a few minutes and stir then eat.
The taste of the soups are quite nice, creamy and the croutons do end up crunchy.
I thought they may be powdery tasting as lots of packet soups are, but I'm quite surprised.
The vegetables end up floating on the top of the soup and are not too soggy or hard, if you leave the soup a few minutes before eating it, your more likely to get the best results.
I think I prefer the Garden Vegetable the best as you do get lots of little vegetable pieces in the soup, a thick creamy soup which is filling.
I had one of these for my lunch and my hunger is satisfied, I haven't
raided the biscuit tin yet.
There is a web site for slimfast products and for tips on dieting, www.slimfast.co.uk there's also a freephine 0800 55 66 55 which is easy to remember and they will give you advice on dieting and how to keep the weight off once you've reached your desired target, but I must say there's nothing that helps as much as regular exercise.
On the whole I can see myself replacing the odd meal with these slimfast soups, although I don't enjoy them as much as I love the shakes. Still I have a sweet tooth.
Hope you enjoyed reading this op and if your trying to lose a bit of weight, stick at it even if you fail a few times, you'll get there in the end.
