Paracetamol ... is a widely used painkiller, available in most supermarkets and smaller shops in packs of 16 (500mg). Paracetamol is also avalable Over the Couner (OTC) in pharmacies in packs of 32. Paracetamol is generally th choice for headache releif and pain relief in cold and flu preperations due to its relative calm action on the stomach epithelia and action on Cyclooxygenase-1 which is an enzyme prevalent in the spinal chord and brain. Inhibition of this enzyme will reduce pain in the area it is situated, hence, reducing headaches. Nurofen ... have suffered since my teens with terrible period pains, they have eased off as ive got older, but for me nurofen have been the most effective pain killer. I always used to take normal ibuoprofen, and this didnt even seem to touch the pain, i took high strength parcemotels and again nothing. I then tried normal nurofen, and found they did help a little. Then they brought our nurofen plus, these were very good, but i heard bad press that they had codedine in them and this was addictive and not very good for you. So when nurofen realised nurofen express in 400mg or 200mg gel capsules i thought id give it a go. These tablets are probably the most expensive tabs yo... Immodium ... of the time I oculd be described as someone with a cast iron stomach, I can usually eat anything and feel fine, however like everyone, form time to time I do suffer a stomach upset and the flood gates open!!! A few years ago I went on holiday with a couple of friends and spent a week eating loads of meat and not drinking nearly enough (well not hydrating fluids anyway) and I suffered from terrible constipation the day we were flying home. Flying in that state is horribly uncomfortable, and ever since I have always taken what I refer to as stoppers and starters whenever I travel.
