Cholera:
... makes Swine Flu look like a summer cold. I remember living in Nigeria in the early 1970s when there was a cholera outbreak. There was plenty of public information about the outbreak. This was the only safeguard, as there is no public health service, poor sanitation and overcrowding. These are perfect conditions for an outbreak to turn into an epidemic. About 23,000 people caught it, nearly 3,000 died a horrib... Read the full review: Cholera makes Swine Flu look like a summer cold by karenroach |

TETANUS Tetanus, also called lockjaw, is an illness characterized by an acute onset of hypertonia, painful muscular contractions (usually of the muscles of the jaw and neck), and generalized muscle spasms without other apparent medical causes. Tetanus is acquired when the spores of the bacterium Clostridium Tetani infect a wound or the umbilical stump. Spores are universally present in the soil. The primary symptoms are caused by tetanospasmin, a neurotoxin produced by the Gram-positive, obligate a... Read the full review: A complete article on Tetanus by doctorsmonsters |

Tetanus ... I was looking at some of the categories on the site and found it amazing to find that no one had written a review on Tetanus. As this is potentially a very serious condition and owing to my interest in most things medical, I thought that it would be pertinent to highlight its main features and inform people of the possible consequences of contracting this infection. What is Tetanus? Tetanus also commonly referred to as Lockjaw. Is an infection which is caused by a bacterium called "Clostridium Tetani". It can affect the brain, muscles and nervous system within the body resulting in unpleasant spasms and convulsions. Be aware that Tetanus is an extre... Meningitis ... is a killer and I am writing this review, not to scare, but hopefully as a useful information resource to remind people what to look out for if this infection is suspected. I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing an acute case of this recently involving one of my friend s children (who thankfully is doing great now). However I won t lie to you it was an extremely distressing and terrifying experience for all involved. A common effect of meningitis is that initially the symptoms tend to resemble the flu so people are unaware of its progression until it has become quite a serious infection. I however can t stress enough how imperative it is to catch this c... Read the full review: Meningitis Know The Signs by ickleannie |
