TimStavert Alcoholism in General: ... can bore anyone with my time with alcholicism, but I will not on this occassion because I feel it is a sad road for anyone to go down. Now 56 years and many years ago I put the binge drinking behind me; basically I grew up, realised my responsibilities and moved on to a better and healthier life that I enjoyed. It took a lot of thinking out and I will be the first to admit I had a few lapses which I was discusted ...

lmurphy72 Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
... 1992 after suffering a very irregular menstrual cycle for a number of years I was encouraged to go along to my doctors to try and find out the cause of this. At this time I had also put on weight suddenly and started to experience hirsutism (facial hair). I was referred to a gynacologist who advised me that I had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and told that with this condition I would probably never be able to have children! As I was only 20 yrs old, single and kids weren t even on my radar I remember being concerned but not deeply upset - strange! However I went on and met my husband in 1994 and told him almost immediately that if he wanted children then the relatio...

baileybird Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
... was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) when I was 17/18 years old. In 1998 most GPs weren t aware of the condition or how to treat it, in some cases this is still true 11 years later although the wider availability of the internet has opened up a wealth of resources for both patients and GPs. I remember the Doctor telling me that I had a condition that meant it was unlikely that I would ever have children or a normal menstrual cycle and that it would probably be best if I had a hysterectomy! He told me what the condition was, but I wasn t really taking any more information in after that bombshell. I went home and did some research on the web and there...

mjc121 Neurofibromatosis
... appologies for no adv and disadv on this review but it s not the type of review I can give them to. The star rating was also not easy. It has 3 as although it is probably best not to suffer from it it is not exactly harmful either. Neurofibromatosis is not very well known. This is despite it being one of the most common genetic conditions in the UK. The lack of knowing about it is probably down to two things firstly it is often missed by GPs and hence many people with the condition are not aware of it and secondly for the majority of sufferers who are diagnosed it poses little or no problems to their everyday life. As I have recently been diagnosed with this cond...
