I thought it's about time it was brought to everyones attention that there are websites out there specifically aimed at those that are unfortunatly suffering from anorexia.

Now before I go on let me make these points: 1. I'm not anorexic(love food too much), 2.This review is not meant to insult anyone in anyway.

There are plenty of Pro Anorexia sites out there, this review is based on one called "Ana By Choice".

The front page of the site carries a warning to non anorexias whom I will call (Ana's) from now on.
The warning states that the site is for those already suffering from ana and do NOT wish to go into recovery, it also says that if you don't suffer from ana you should NOT enter.

However, I feel I'm strong enough for this site so I go on in.

As far as I can tell, the aim of these pro ana sites are for those that are suffering from anorexia to have someone to go and talk to people who understand them.
To be honest apart from the idea that they are basically slowly killing themselves, it's probably not a bad idea for these sites, I suppose thats a matter of opinion. All i mean by that statement is that, clearly those who suffer from ana have a lost more problems than they show and therefore if their going to hurt themselves in this way shouldn't they be allowed to talk to one another and maybe one day sort out their problems. That's a longshot though.

There is a journal section on this site where the person that made this site writes a daily diary about her anorexia, it's all based on what he/she ate today and complaining that they "Really shouldnt have ate that" and "I've had 810 calories already today", for those who arent aware the recommended daily intake for women is 2000 and 2500 for men.

The tips page is probably one of the best parts of this site.
It states things such as "if you are not anorexic thank go
d" and "If you are anorexic pray to god". So in a way from this we can see that this person isn't really happy about being anorexic. How can they be if they pray for help?

Ok, I've just entered a section called Anthology and after reading this part... I may want to disregard the comment I said in the tips section.
This section details the reasons why they are anorexic, a few examples are:
Because I want to be beautiful, everyone will envy me, I want my boyfriend to have that perfect girl...and I want that girl to be me".

The next section is a gallery of picture, and yes you've guessed it, it's full of models.
Looking at some of these pictures a lot of them you could abtain that waste with a healthy diet and excercise. However I'm aware that those suffering from ana that they won't good results fast.
Although there are a lot of other images of people that look no more like a skeleton with skin on, and believe me it really isn't attractive.

As well as being an 'ugly' image this person almost looks painful to touch.
Part of me after seeing those pictures wants me to start excercising more in order to obtain that flat stomach I want! However, I'm not a sufferer of ana nor will I ever be and If I see food and I want it... I'll eat it, and I won't feel guilty!

other sections of this site are polls (the majority of visitors aim for a goal weight of 90-99 lb)

There is a section on eating disorders with information on Anorexia, and bulimia detailing what these illnesses are, the symptoms and how they start.

The last section of this site is a member photo album, its full of stomach shots and the majority of them ar
e flat but not skeletal!
