Gall Stones

Newest Review: ... and was reffered to the hospital for a ultrasound and finally had got my diagnosis. Gall Stones. My consultant explained that I was likely to have got gall stones from an increase in oestrogen because I had just had a baby and also because I am a little over weight. He explained that by eating less fatty food and oil like butter and dairy products would reduce the likelyhood of an attack. I found this paticularly hard, as someone with a pretty bad diet, I had to restrain myself from eating most dairy foods, barely buttering my toast and hardly eating anything I wanted, I hated it. Despite altering my diet, I had several at... more

I think this is a fairly common thing to have, but until last year, I had never hear of the problem and wouldn't be able to tell you anything about it. Last year, when my little boy was about 5 weeks old, I suffered my first gall stone attack. It started they with pains in my chest that got worse and worse and become unbearable. I panicked, I didn't know what was happening to me, I thought I was having a heart attack and really did think that I was going to die. I also experienced a stabbing pain in the centre of the top of my back which was bad, but not as severe as the pain shooting through my solar-plex. I didn't think I would be able to drive and called ...  Read the complete review

I was diagnosed with gall stones a little over two years ago, I think I like most had lived with them relatively unknowingly, not long after my daughter was born I had my first gall stone attack, it was undiagnosed at the time. Fours years later I suffered four attacks in quick succession, they would start with pains around my chest that grew to become unbearable like I was having a heart attack, the pain in my back was bad too, to the point that I couldn't bear to lie on it, on the last attack I was sick too. The pain had been so bad my partner had said we ought to go to A&E but I didn't want to (bizarre I know) In each case the pains lasted for about ...  Read the complete review

I've had several years of stomach pains after eating rich foods, and thought it was due to stomach ulcers which were diagnosed years ago and flared up now and again. However over the past year, the pain had grown considerably worse. It was triggered by foods like fish and chips, curry and rich creamy things. The pain would start in the upper part of my stomach and feel like an intense ache going right through to my back between my shoulder blades. I'd end up sitting with a hot water bottle behind me to ease it off. I also couldn't bear any pressure on my right side, or my stomach as that would trigger the pain as well. I already knew I had a small gallstone ...  Read the complete review

After having an emergency trip to hospital a week before christmas with gall stones, i thought it only fair to share the symptoms and my experience with everyone else out there that gets this pain and honestly believes they are dying! ~~How it started~~ I'd had a few emergency dr visits in the nights where i'd woken up in so much pain that i couldn't stand up straight and their diagnosis? Kidney infections followed by a course of antibiotics. I mentioned this to my doctor on a random check up i had and she immediately suspected gall stones and ordered an ultrasound to find out if this was the case. Why couldn't the emergency drs have picked this up ...  Read the complete review
