Advantages: spray lasts longer and works better
Disadvantages: peaple with gromets cant use the spray
After suffering from hay fever for many years i have tried almost all the products on the market.
The majority of hayfever products contain antihistomine, which is the main active ingredient that stops your hayfever symptoms.
Pyriton tablets are possibly the most expensive antihistomine tablets avalable retailing at around £5 for 7 days worth of tablets.
They are a one a day tablet which is obviously supposed to last for 24 hours but does not work for me.
After taking the tablet first thing in the morning it takes about 1 hour for the sneezing to stop and the runny eyes dont stop at all.
The tablet only lasts on me for about 6 hours and as they are a 1 a day tablet i cant take another one until the next day so i dont bother with these anymore.
Beconase make a nasel spray for hayfever which also contains antihistomines which retails at around £8 but lasts for around 3 months.
The spray realy does work for me, Two squirts into each nostrel every morning and again around tea time and i suffer no symptoms at all all summer.
If i leave using the first spray untill my symptoms have began the spray takes about 20 minutes to stop my sneezing and red sore watery eyes.
The only problem with this spray is that you cant use it if you have had nasal gromets fitted as part of a sinus operation.
Summary: beconase spray is the best iv found yet
