Bach Rescue Remedy Pastilles
by lights84
I started taking Bach Rescue Pastilles as a recommendation from someone who works in healthfood store. I am pregnant with my second baby and it has been very stressful so far this time with cramping and awful nausea and back pain. Add that to chasing around a boisterous toddler and a hubby who works a lot and you get the ... picture.
The lady who recommended these to me said to take one as soon as I start to feel anxious or nervous, or throughout the day if this happens often. I was getting desperate as there is so little you can take safely during pregnancy for stress and anxiety, so I paid £5.50 for the tin there and then in the healthfood store.
These pastilles are part of the Bach brand which creates flower remedies. According to their website these pastilles contain:
Star of Bethlehem: For trauma and shock.
Clematis: For the tendency to "pass out", and unconsciousness, being 'far away' and not present mentally.
Cherry Plum: Fear of mind giving way, verge of breakdown, anger.
Impatiens: For irritability, tension and fidgety.
Rock Rose: For frozen terror and panic.
- Which sounded ideal to my pregnant, hormonal self. Back Rescue Pastilles are housed in a yellow tin which is easy to open and close and the tin is also nice and hardy for reuse afterwards. The pastilles are sugar free and the ones I bought are orange and elderflower but you can also get them in blackcurrant. The pastilles don't taste of much, they have a mild tang to them but nothing too upsetting for my nausea, although that could also be because they are hard boiled - sucking which helps to ease the nausea a little.
As for helping with stress and anxiety, I'm afraid I can't really say that they worked for me. I didn't notice any difference to when I suck on normal sweets or even chew gum, although at lest these pastilles don't contain E numbers or sugar, or alcohol. If consumed in large quantities they can cause laxative effects, although being pregnant this is not particularly unwelcome to me..
So I give these pastilles a middle 3 stars, as I'm not sure that they work, but they are quite enjoyable to eat, not unhealthy, and nicely harmless for my pregnant self. Read the complete review |

Bach Rescue Remedy Pastilles
by basketofbuttons
Being a bit of a stress-head, I bought myself a small tin of Bach Rescue Remedy Pastilles. I also have tried Kalms in the past but unfortunately they did me no good at all. This little tin I purchased from my local Boots and it cost £5.69 for about 30 sweeties in total. They do come in a choice of flavours, but blackcurrant being my ... favourite, these were the ones I opted for. I'm not sure what I was expecting with these pastilles and if I'm honest, I didn't really expect them to calm me down much at all, but I was willing to give them a try. What a complete waste of money they turned out to be.
They taste lovely. They taste just like a Rowntree's Fruit Pastille only less sweet and sugary - and a LOT more expensive. They come in a pretty little tin which nearly took my nails off the first few times I tried to open it. The tin is small enough to fit into my handbag without taking up too much space at all.
The pastilles are round, soft and slightly chewy. They are designed to be sucked or chewed, whichever you prefer. I tried to suck one all the way through, but much like a Rowntree's Fruit Pastille, I was forced to chew before I got to the end. The first time I tried one of these I ate only one. The next time I popped two into my mouth together. Hey made not one iota of difference and I still was feeling nervy and anxious and on edge both before and after I had eaten the pastilles.
I suppose they must act as some sort of placebo, but my anxiety levels are not being fooled by these little sweet treats. It was an expensive lesson and though I'm not sorry I tried them and gave them a go, I can't help thinking that I've parted with a lot of money for what was effectively just a little tin of sweeties.
Please don't waste your money on these. They did nothing for me and I wouldn't consider buying them again. Read the complete review |
