Bassetts On The Go Vitamins
by marymoose ---Intro--- I love a freebie, and was quite excited when we were at Euston Station in October and they were giving out little pots (I'm not really sure whether to describe this as a pot or a tube) of Bassetts on the Go Vitamins. I NEARLY went back for more, but in the end decided not to. Since I take a multivitamin most ... days (just occasionally I forget), I thought this was an ideal product for me to try. I had one then and there, and then put the tube in my bag, to mostly be forgotten about aside from when I'm away and am having a tidy up of my bag! ---The tube of delights!--- There are 15 Citrus flavoured pastilles in the tube (I think tube is more appropriate than pot, it's a bit like half a tube of Smarties). Mine has on a best before date of January 2013, so it's just as well I only have a couple left, and will now finish over the next couple of days! The tube is made of plastic, and covered in a slightly shiny silver paper. There is a purple lid, and the word "Vitality" in green (which is obviously a different vitamin from the one in dooyoo's picture which says 'Maintain'). I find this ever so slightly misleading, as with the purple I wrongly assumed that these vitamins would be blackcurrant flavoured. ---What's in them--- These "Vitality" pastilles that I'm reviewing specifically only contain a selection of B Vitamins, so if you're used to a multivitamin, then these probably won't suit (there are however other products in the range). If however you are just after B vitamins, then these will probably be ideal. They contain Vitamins B6 and B12 (which I believe are important for good mental health), Riboflavin, and Pantothenic Acid - they contain 100% of the RDA of these. They do contain quite a few ingredients, including gelatine, so aren't suitable for vegetarians. It says that they contain natural colours, but does warn that they contain sulphites. Obviously like any supplements, these should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet. However, I do believe that supplements have their place, and can boost health, especially during times when your body might not be getting all it needs from food, for whatever reason. ---The taste test--- Unlike normal vitamin supplements which you swallow, these are to be chewed. Each pastille is about 1cm by 1.5cm, and an orange colour with lines going across ways. They smell only very mildly of orange. On chewing, the flavour is slightly unusual (I can confirm though that it hasn't changed since they have past their best before date) - it is definitely orange flavoured, but slightly bitter. Not unpleasant as such, but I don't think that it will be to everyone's taste. I think they are nice enough (a bit like wine gums), and am always tempted after one to have another, but I don't since I don't want to overload on vitamins. These pastilles are only suitable for those over 12, so although they look and taste like sweets, it's even more important that they're kept out of reach of children. ---My thoughts--- Personally I think these are a gimmick, and have only tried them as they were free. I am going to stick with my multivitamin tablets and fish oil supplements which I feel give me everything that I need (in addition to my balanced diet!). I do like the taste of these even if slightly unusual, although they do leave a bit of an aftertaste But really I don't see the point, unless you have a big problem swallowing small pills (I suppose these are useful if you have no water to hand too) and want to take a supplement which only contains vitamin B. Of course Bassetts do a load of other types, such as Vitamin C and immune support. They do actually do a multivitamin as well, so you don't actually have to buy a million different pastilles! A 15 pack costs an astonishing £2.47 in Asda which is 16.5p each (a nice little freebie then and wish I'd got more than one!) which is a lot more than I can afford. They can probably be found for less elsewhere, but I'm sticking with supermarket own brand vitamins for now. Read the complete review |

Bassetts On The Go Vitamins
by basketofbuttons I am never sure how much good taking a multi vitamin actually does as far as my general health is concerned, but I always feel better erring on the side of caution, and most days (when I remember) I do pop a multi vitamin tablet with my morning cuppa. A very short while ago I was using Bassets On the Go Vitamins and these are just a ... little bit different to your normal type of swallow it whole with a glass of water tablet. For a start, these tablets look a lot like sweets and they come packaged together in a very nifty little tube with a flip off lid. The look just like an orange pastille and they really don't resemble what I'd consider a 'normal' vitamin tablet. These tablets are sugar free but they taste surprisingly nice and sweet, adding to the fact that they have a very sweetie type of feel and look to them as well as having a pleasant taste. I like the fact that they are a vitamin pill I can suck or chew on rather than having to swallow whole - I hate to swallow tablets in general, unless they are extremely tiny. I bought a tube of these from Lloyds Pharmacy and they cost £2 at the time for a tube, which contained just over two weeks' supply of vitamins - 15 tablets in total. This is reasonable value for money, I suppose, but then again, it does work out fairly expensive over a longer period of time. I cannot really say whether I feel any 'healthier' after taking these tablets as I have always taken some sort of vitamin or another, and these didn't make any noticeable difference to my energy levels or general health. I have noticed, however, that I haven't suffered from colds so much this winter (apart from a few raging sore throats) so possibly (maybe) they have made a slight difference to my immune system. They contain my full quota of recommended daily vitamins and as they are so easy to take I really do rate the. I have since reverted to my old Tesco pills, however, but this was mainly due to cost issues. On the whole they were easy o take and made a pleasant change in that I liked to be able to chew and suck on the pills rather than having to swallow them. On the negative side though, they are slightly too expensive to keep using longer term. Read the complete review |

Bassetts On The Go Vitamins
by thriftygiftyisme Bassett's On The Go Vitamins Healthy diet, 5 a day fruit and Veg - I try, but I feel at times that we all need a boost from Vitamins and minerals, but I am so fussy what I take, as I don't like tablets that go chalky. =Winter= Winter time and holidays, are the times I feel that I need my body needs a boost, when my ... daughter was younger she use to have the Bassett's children's vitamins, and when I saw that they did these Bassets on the Go Vitamins, I knew I had to try the, =Packaging= The packet I brought was the "Maintain" variety, the mix of vitamins and minerals are designed to help maintain your immune system. The tube is a silver colour with a purple lid, and the writing on the tube is in orange and purple. The lid is a click on, click off variety lid, simple to use. =The Vitamins= They look really funky, and not at all like a traditional vitamin, if anything they look more like a sweet, really a pastille. They are a citrus colour and to me taste like exotic fruits, I can't really identify one taste in particular. They are sugar fee, (healthy), and only contain natural colours. They are easy to take as it is like chewing a sweet. =Price / Amount= I purchased mine for £1.99 from Boots, and there are 15 Vitamins in the tube, there great for chucking in your handbag so you don't forget them. At the price, I would say there more for a top up purpose. =What do they contain= Zinc Vitamin C Riboflavin Panthotenic Acid Folic Acid Vitamin B12 Vitamin B6 =Age= These are not suitable for children under 12 years old. =Would I recommend= I would highly recommend these Vitamins, although I wouldn't use them for an everyday vitamin, as I feel that they are not cost effective, as a pick me up, or a I need a boost, then I would say that these are perfect for that, The best bit is they taste nice.
