Actimel - Great for Chronic Acid Reflux (Danone Actimel Original)

I registered on "dooyoo" for the prime purpose of passing on my experiences of Actimel over the past 3 months.

For many years now I have suffered with chronic indigestion and acid reflux whenever I drank too much red wine, ate fresh white bread, consumed a very spicy curry and many other things that I guess are generally recognised as not being very good for sensitive stomachs. Night times have often been very uncomfortable and on the worst occassions I have actually choked on my own stomach acid - an appalling experience I have to say.

Consequently, Rennie has been my friend! I think I've personally kept Bayer Health Care in business for the past 20 years! I have never gone anywhere without some.

In July I moved jobs to a company that has an excellent sandwich bar. On my first visit I noticed a small fridge with a flip-top plastic lid full of Actimel right next to the checkout. So for grins I bought a bottle of Original flavour to try. As one who is sceptical about "health foods" in general, I certainly was not expecting anything spectacular.

Having switched many years ago to fat-free yoghurts, I found the taste of Actimel quite familiar and pleasant. Consequently I made it a habit to drink one every work day as a dessert after my lunchtime sandwich.

This has been going on now for just over 10 weeks. In the last 2 weeks I have noticed a massive difference in how my stomach feels. I have not had one single episode of acid reflux regardless of what I have consumed - and believe me, I've been pushing the boundaries just to see if I could break it! Instead of developing acidic reflux when I am hungry, I now experience normal hunger pangs - the feeling of which I had forgotten over the last 20 years.

Also, I am generally very susceptible to catching colds and coughs. Even with 2 young children starting a new term at school, I have not been ill once while those around me have been sneezing, sniffling and coughing!

I could not recommend Actimel enough, but one needs to give it time to work. An instant remedy it is not, but if used habitually I am absolutely convinced the claims made are true. And it seems that in my case it also helps in areas for which no claim is made.

Summary: 20 years of stomach problems - gone!
