I use the liquid tincture (a tincture is the dried fruit extracted in alcohol) by A.Vogel which is destributed by bioforce, the website which contains many other tinctures is www.avogel.co.uk, it comes in a 50ml glass bottle, which lasts me around 6-8 weeks. Agnus Castus is a plant native to the Mediterranean and has been grown for thousands of years. It has been grown in English gardens since the 16th century. It is also known as Vitex and Chaste berry. They produce blue/purple flowers and a pleasant scent. Agnus Castus has been used for 2300 years for problems with the female menstrual cycle by balancing the hormones. Premium Review Pure and Chaste (390 words)

Rating:

Agnus Castus is another name for the chaste tree, the berries of which have been used for thousands of years and are now used as a herbal medicine for many gynecological issues such as PMS, infertility due to lack of menstruation and hormonal acne. It is called the chaste tree because it has also been used to supress libido. It balances out female hormones as it acts on the pitutary gland to increase lutenising hormone and therefore increasing progesterone and so regulating the menstrual cycle. There are many different brands that sell it and it can come in caplet form containing the dried fruit or liquid form. I use the liquid tincture (a tincture is the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Agnus Castus: PMS and Menopausal Relief (466 words)

Rating:

Agnus Castus Berries (Vitex agnus-castus) The Agnus Castus is very pretty, half-hardy Mediterranean shrub with long pointed green leaves. Vitex agnus-castus is also known as Chaste tree and can be found growing in damp places, especially by streams. The berries of this plant have a range of medicinal actions but possibly the most important is its ability to rectify hormonal imbalances caused by an excess of oestrogen and an insufficiency of progesterone. It does this by acting upon the pituitary gland, where it reduces the production of certain hormones and increases the production of others, shifting the balance in favour of the gestagens. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Relief from hot flushes (124 words)
by - written on 02/05/01 (Useful, 1916 readings)
Rating:

If you have ever had a hot flush you'll know it's a real nuisance. A friend recommended using this herbal treatment for menopausal hot flushes - I didn't believe it could work, but I had no wish to use HRT during my relatively early menopause, so I thought I'd give it a try. Result! Within a week of taking it in tincture form (20 drops morning and night) my hot flushes had ceased completely. I couldn't have been more surprised. I would certainly recommend trying this simple remedy to anyone (or their mums) who is suffering the nuisance of these symptoms. Agnus castus also comes in tablet form and is commonly available in Holland & Barrett & ...  Read the complete review
