Advantages: Too numerous to name, just read it, it's long
Disadvantages: it's not cheap, took ages to write, still no crown!
Here is everything you need to know about aloe vera. It really is a fantastic product!
I started working on a packaging project for Aloe vera and in researching this product I found out about this amazing 'cure all'...and even better I started to use it!
And before you ask, I dont have an itchy bottom!
Anyway, this is what i found out...
~~~~What is it?~~~~
Aloe Vera is famous for its beneficial effect to the skin. Great Egyptian beauties (like Cleopatra and Queen Nerfetiti) are said to have bathed in the juice derived from its pulp to keep their skin beautiful in spite of the harsh sun. And I use it!
The plant looks like cactus. It has spiky succulent leaves growing from the base. It does not need too much water. It grows easily if left in the hot sun, well drained soil and watered occasionally.
Its gel is found within the leaf. To use, cut the leaf lengthwise and take out the clear colourless pulp, carefully avoiding the yellow liquid
found near the surface of the leaf. The yellow liquid is aloin, which is irritating to the skin. Aloin has its uses as a laxative. It is used
medicinally for its stimulating effect on the bowels. It is also a skin irritant and is not suitable for skin care.
The clear colourless pulp from the centre of the leaf is the aloe vera gel used for burns, skin care and even hair care.
Aloe vera gel is very complex. It is so complex, not all of its properties have been identified yet. We do know however that it contains many properties, including vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, E. It also contains folic acid, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, sodium,
choline, magnesium, copper, chromium and zinc. It carries the nutrients down through all layers of the skin. The polysaccharides in aloe vera create a barrier that prevents moisture loss from the skin.
~~~~What does it do?~~~~
Where it grows in Northern Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, there are no dermatologists as th
e people there are accustomed to using Aloe Vera. So if it's good for them, it must be good for me...and it is!
I used to get shaving rash on my neck...but not any more thanks to Aloe Vera Gel. And it clears up any spots that occasionally appear (It is naturally anti-bacterial and contains aloin and aloetic acid, both effective anti bacterial agents )and it also helps to heal the skin (and it feels soothing too)...and the patch of dry skin I had (I wont tell you where) has gone. I haven?t tried it for a great many uses, but everything I have used it for so far works! here is some of the research I did and other known treatments it is known to be effective for:
Aloe Vera also contains 4 known antiseptic agents: Lupeol, Salicylic Acid, Cinnamonic Acid, and Urea Nitrogen. These recognised antiseptics are antimicrobiological which is why Aloe has the ability to eliminate many external infections. Lupeol and Salicylic Acid are also highly effective painkillers, add that to Aloe's high content of Magnesium, and you know why Aloe is so effective against pain.
Aloe also contains B-sitosterol which is an anticholesterolmatic. This means it has the ability to break down and eliminate cholesterol, also it is a prostaglandin substance which is an antiflammatory agent, long recognised as an effective treatment for burns, cuts, scrapes, abrasions, as well as in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic fever and peptic ulcers.
Aloe Vera is also known to effectively treat the following (phew!) Please note that these are internal (aloe vera juice) and external (Aloe Vera Jelly)
* Angioneurotic edema
* Apthous ulcers (mouth ulcers)
* Canker sores
* Chemical burns
* Chloasma (liver spots)
onic leg ulcers
* Cold sores
* Dandruff (for your head..and shoulders)
>* Decubitous ulcers (bed sores)
* Digestive disorders
* Dry/chafed skin/lips
* Essential pruritus
* Fever blisters (herpes simplex)
* Herpetic stomatitis
* Immediate denture syndrome
* "Jock-itch" (yes, it is what it sounds like!)
* Muscle spasm/soreness
* Myositis (muscle inflammations)
* Open surgical wounds
* Peptic ulcers
* Post hemmorrhoidectomy
* Post operative to oral surgery
* Pruritus ani (or itchy bottom!)
* Pruritus vulvae
* Prickly heat
* Radiation burns
* Razor burn
Aloe vera is an excellent remedy for burn, from cooking in the kitchen to sunburns. To use, apply liberally on the affected area. This
should soothe the burn and facilitate healing.
For fairer skin, apply the gel on your skin daily.
It is a great moisturiser for oily skin as it is oil free and will not clog your pores.
It is also good in juice form and can help your metabolosm and help you to loose weight!
Aloe vera improves fibroblast cell structures. Aloe vera also accelerates the
collagen making process, thus reducing wrinkles.
It contains collagen and therefore is good for wrinkles.
~~~~It also contains:~~~~
* Salicylic Acid: It offers anti-inflammatory activities and relieves pain.
* Sterols: They have anti-inflammatory activity.
* Gibberellin: It is a growth factor and offers anti-inflammatory activities.
* Beta Carotene: An antioxidant - possibly a cancer fighter.
* Anthrquinones: A known cancer fighter.
* Zinc: Shown to improve wound healing in diabetics.
~~~~Where do I buy then?~~~~
First of all, ignore products tha
t say 'contains aloe vera'. What you want it 99% pure cold pressed aloe Vera Gel. It's the real McCoy. Most people know it as something to put on sunburn, but it has many uses. So here are some of the
things that it can do (and trust me it works!)
I hope that this is of some use to you. It's not that cheap. You will find it for sale in health food shops and chemists. The cheapest place to find it is probably over the net. www.pharmacy2you.co.uk is excellent and I highly recommend them.
If anyone has anything to add to this op please leave me your comments. Thanks.
