Advantages: Almost instant relief from sore stomachs.
Disadvantages: A bit expensive.
With Christmas fast approaching it means a few things, 1- we will all be spending too much money (some of it on people we do not even really like), 2- we will all get some very interesting presents (by interesting I mean rubbish) and 3 - we will all over indulge in the delights of stuffing our face with very unhealthy foods till we get to the vomiting stage.
With the over indulgence will almost certainly come heartburn and acid indigestion, for this there is something we can do but unfortunately for the spending and receiving rubbish there is nothing we can do. The indigestion can be very easily dealt with by investing in and taking some Andrews Liver salts.
I remember watching my dad take these when I was a youngster, in those days they came in small metal tin with a paper cover that you had to burst with a spoon like the ones on a coffee jar. I used to get to burst the paper on the tin and in those days that was my only experience of them but these days I always have a tin handy.
Unlike my dad who used to have a glass of these liver salts every morning I only use them when I feel I need them and Christmas will definitely be one of those times I am sure. All you do with this stuff is simply add one teaspoonful to a glass of water and drink it quickly whilst it is still fizzing, there is little or no taste to it, it really just tastes like sparkling water.
The dosage can be raised to two spoonfuls if you want to use it to relieve constipation but the other uses it has such as relief from an upset stomach, indigestion, heartburn and the symptoms of over-indulgence can all be taken care of with just the one spoonful.
This is suitable at these measurements for anyone over the age of three years old but there are precautions recommended for people who suffer from abdominal pain, severe vomiting, heart problems or high blood pressure.
Andrews Liver Salts apparently work by neutralising stomach acid, I don't know about that but I do know they work and they work really well. You will find yourself burping a good few times after taking them and then you will almost instantly feel their benefits.
I have never used these as a cure for constipation but I have it on very good authority that if you do take two spoonfuls for this purpose then make sure you are never too far from a toilet.
A 150g jar of this at the moment will cost you around three pounds depending on where you buy it this might change slightly but right now in Asda it is £2.98. Add it to your Christmas shopping, you won't regret it!!
Summary: A must have for the Christmas over-indulgance.

- 21/11/08 I don,t think 2.98 is that expensive and indigestion can be very painful, so i think this is small price to pay to stop it in its tracks.
