Introduction: I have never owned a set of scales in my life before I purchased these from argos. I wanted to get some scales because I always wanted to know my weight, but never got round to buying some. I noticed these when looking through the argos book, they were a bargain compared to other brands and the cheapest I could find when looking online. Overall I wanted to buy these simply for the price! I will now go into more detail on the product and explain the issues I have found! Price: This product cost me only £3.99, this was by far the cheapest scales you can buy on the market. The scales measure in pounds and kilos. Overall these ... Read the complete review

I bought these when I was mid-way through my diet earlier this year as the scales I had were being quite inconsistent. These scales were very inexpensive at just £3.99 - which were significantly cheaper than the £20.99 scales I'd had my eye on in Waitrose. I didn't really need scales that did anything special, I just wanted them to be able to tell me how much I weighed when I stepped on them! I picked these up from Argos in Cheltenham. The scales look like average weighing scales in as much as there is nothing about them that particularly sticks out as special (except for the price!). Why on God`s green earth I decided to go for this mechanical scale from Argos I will never quite understand, because this scale turned out to be one hundred percent useless, not even good for collecting dust in my bathroom... I will say that most products I have bought from Argos have been very pleassant surprises, but this mechanical scale, well, it didn`t work at all well! I paid only five pounds for this scale, and so perhaps I shouldn`t expect a very good product, but seeing as Argos have delivered so many other affordable great products, I did expect this product to at least work properly, but sadly, it didn`t... Before buying this scale, I knew my ... Read the complete review

Seeing as I reviewed my new set of scales on here, I figure I should be fair and review my old set , which I purchased a couple of years ago. I purchased these at the time primarily because they were very low in price , and as (at the time) a single mother on a low income, price was often the deciding factor in many purchases. £3.99 was avery low price, and with the benefit of being able to puick them up from an Argos store not far from my home, the decision was easily made . These are nothing fancy - just a basic set of old fashioned mechanical scales, in a bright white colour. They have a slighty textured plate which offers a good grip, and a ... I don't bother with scales all that much, I can tell from my clothes if I've put on or lost a few pounds so don't need to know bang on how heavy I am. That was until I put shedloads on over Xmas last year, I had to go on a proper diet because just cutting the crap out wasn't going to do much so I decided to get some scales. I was majorly shocked at the price of digital scales so ended up getting these Argos Value mechanical scales, at the time they cost £3.49 but I think they have gone up a bit now but they're still under a fiver. The day I brought them I popped into Boots to weigh myself on their scales so that I could get these scales accurate.... but ... Read the complete review
