I have been a long time fan of arnica. I have never been keen on conventional medicine as my take on it is that whatever drug you are putting into your body often causes more problems than your original complaint! I have used arnica mostly for stiffness and predominantly bruising. You always hope that a little bit of what you preach to your children over the years actually sticks with them and am I glad that this pearl of wisdom did! My two daughters (both well past teenage stage) were out on the town and partaking of a few libations. My eldest daughter stumbled and fell (in her defence the road was slippery) and broke her nose. Luckily it was outside her flat so after cleaning her up my daughter started applying arnica gel to the area and also around her eyes. The next day they went to the local A&E department and the doctor who examined her was absolutely amazed that apart from some swelling there was absolutely no bruising at all and in fact none developed. He congratulated my daughter on her quick thinking and they have been arnica fans since. A friend of mine recently went into hospital for some cosmetic surgery procedures and she was advised to take arnica tablets for a couple of weeks before and a couple of weeks after to help with any bruising. This is a must of every medicine cabinet - fantastic for all age groups!
