Advantages: Wide Choice, Great Value

Disadvantages: Erm, not a lot really!

I work a lot with computers and, unfortunately, this has left me a certain 'fuzziness' at long-distance (especially after a long day at the office).

The last time I visited the opticians was around ten years ago, so I booked myself in to the local Asda opticians for a check up.

Overall I must say that I was thoroughly impressed! Some of the friends and family I spoke with were a little snobby about a supermarket opticians but the service was first rate, the check up was very thorough and the costs were very reasonable!

I booked the appointment and was given a generous amount of time with the optician. The appointment was unhurried and felt very professional all the way through. They even took me around the shop afterwards to test 'real world' examples of my eyesight!

It turned out I needed very weak glasses for driving etc. so I got some 'George' frames and lenses for under £100.

Since then I've recommended Asda opticians to everyone I know,! and my wife has got a couple of really good branded frames and lenses with them. This was 'on offer' and she got a very reasonable discount!

To point out the obvious, this isn't an independent optician, which could mean that choice (in terms of frames etc.) may be limited. However, they do have a decent range for my tastes and the prices are good.

Summary: A Good Add on!
