Disadvantages: Don't taste great

~Introduction~
I first tried Berocca a few years ago when it was launched and they were giving away free trials at the train station I was using for my daily commute. Since then I have purchased it occasionally, but don't use it daily as suggested, just when I feel I need a vitamin boost (eg after a heavy night XD lol) I use the effervescent tablets so this review is of them. I have felt inspired to write today as I have a cold and have reached for my Berocca again this morning!

~What's in Berocca?~
Each tablet is about the size of a 50p, but they are round. Packed into each little tablet is:
793% RDA of Vitamin C
743% RDA of Vitamin B1 (Thiamin)
850% RDA of Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
252% RDA of Vitamin B3 (Niacin)
355% RDA of Vitamin B6
860% RDA of Vitamin B12
378% RDA of Vitamin B5
87% RDA of Biotin (vitamin H or B7)
183% RDA of Folic Acid
12% RDA of Calcium
32% RDA of Magnesium
60% RDA of Zinc

Phew! That's a lot of vitamins!

~Why do I want to take this?~

So what is the benefit of having so many vitamins. I must say was a litte confused by having 793% of the RDA of something- surely 100% would enough! Apparently some times your body will need more vitamins than at others so it takes as much as it needs and then your body filters out the excess in your urine (watch out for the amazing yellow colour! Freaked me out big style the first time lol)

So if you've been particuarly tough on yourself and you need some extra vitamin c, well there's certainly enough in one of these! Vitamin C helps your immune sytem, is an anti-oxidant and keeps skin, hair and nails nice, and helps you absorb iron so no more getting run down!

All of the Vitamin B's help you release energy from food so give you a bit more energy without having to add sugars and caffeine.

Magnesium and zinc help support your immune system, keep your skin healthy, keep all your nerves and muscles working in top condition (apparently)

All good stuff then...

~What's it taste like?~
It comes in two flavours- orange and tropical. I've only had the orange tables. Once the tablets dissolve they make a crazy bright orange coloured drink, which tastes Ok. Not great, but drinkable. I personally drink it down as fast as I can because it tastes very artificially orange.

~Does it work?~
I guess this is a hard one to quantify as it's very subjective. I think i do feel more awake and have a bit more oomph. As I said, I don't use them daily- just if I'm feeling a bit run down, have a cold, or need a bit of a boost. Then I'll use them for a week or so.

I have found that if take these when I have a cold then it really help it clear up faster, they usually last only a couple of days rather than dragging on for a week or more, so fingers crossed for this cold clearing up fast!

~Where can I get them?~
Boots have them for £3.91 for 15 or £11.25 for 45 and they are in their 3 for 2 offer, so quite good value.

As an aside- I think Berocca is a bit of a strange name. Doesn't seem to be connected to what they are or what they do at all!

Summary: The only vitamin supplement I have found has visible results.

I took this recently when recovering from flu. I think it helped. Boots do their own version with slightly varying amounts of vitamins which is a lot cheaper.
