Advantages: works!
Disadvantages: expensive
I recently started purchasing the effervescent version of this product as I was struggling to keep up with my lifestyle. Like another reviewer that I have seen here, I picked up a virus when I was 17 and ever since I have been plagued by fatigue, particularly in the mornings and in the mid-afternoons. I had learnt ways to manage it in my life, but recently it had begun to take over as I have a demanding job which is currently incredibly busy as well as a wedding in a matter of weeks - all in all it has felt like ages since I had a proper break and I was beginning to flag seriously. I was also worried that as soon as I began to relax on my honeymoon I would instantly pick up some kind of illness!
I, like probably everyone else, have seen the distinctive advert, but hadn't really considered it beyond that. However, following a friend telling me that it has helped her fend off colds I started taking it.
It is an effervescent tablet which fizzes in a glass of water within about a minute. It has a sort of orangey flavour which is not unpleasant, but seeing as I drink a lot of herbal tea it takes a lot to make me think that a drink is unpleasant.
I felt the benefits almost immediately after finishing the glass ( I normally put it in a pint of water.) Most mornings I wake up feeling like I haven't had much sleep at all, but I felt that this definitely took the edge off that.
I am generally cynical of products that promise energy and have previously used Pharmaton which I found to not be worth the massive price tag and which you can only use for a short period of time. Caffeine gives me that high and then a slump. I felt that this seemed to give me energy for the whole day, only slumping when I sat down in front of the TV in the evening. Generally this would have happened much before. I can now also sit down to read a book in the afternoon without dozing off.
It is expensive, I can't deny that - the only thing I can suggest to counteract this is to buy it in bulk when it is on offer or get it somewhere like Tesco or Boots that has a reward system. Boots in particular often does 3 for 2 on vitamins and minerals.
I understand that most people do not have my fatigue problems, so I can only talk from my extreme viewpoint and say that it has definitely worked for me and I will continue to buy it for the foreseeable future and I recommend others who feel that they are flagging just to give it a go! Also the boost to the immune system and the added calcium (13% RDA) is another bonus.
Summary: a long-term buy
