Advantages: Flavour, ingredients / vitamin content, ease of use

Disadvantages: Cost

I started taking Berocca Effervescent Tablets about 9 months ago, I was offered one by a colleague as a hang over cure and I enjoyed the taste of the Orange tablets, it was very similar to Orange Fanta. I read the tube and saw how packed they were with Vitamins, and that was it, I was hooked.

The basics:

Berocca tablets come in 3 different sized packs, 45 pack / RRP £13.49, 30 pack / RRP £10.54, 15 pack / RRP £5.81

You can ususally pick these up in health food shops or Boots, or even now supermarkets for a lot cheaper, on special offers, 3 for 2s etc. You are supposed to take 1 tablet per day, so for a month supply they are going to cost you around £10, although you should be able to source them a little bit cheaper. Beware of own brand products in supermarkets. They tend to only contain Vitamin C. Berocca contains all kinds of goodness from Vitamins, so don't make the mistake of trying to go cheap and missing out on the different cocktail of vitamins, if you do want to get a cheaper version, compare the ingredients and vitamins provided.

To use, all you need to do is dissolve one tablet in a glass of water to make the orange-flavoured energy release drink.

Contents:

Berocca can be bought in Tropical flavour now, it contains no caffeine, no sugar, no artificial stimulants or preservatives.

Per tablet you get the following vitamins:

Vitamin C, 476 mg , Thiamin (Vitamin B1) 10.4 mg, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) 13.6 mg, Niacin (Vitamin B3) 45.3 mg, Vitamin B6 7.1 mg, Vitamin B12 8.6 μg, Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) 22.7 mg, Biotin 130 μg, Folacin (folic acid) 366 μg, Calcium 95 mg, Magnesium 95 mg, Zinc 9 mg.

As you can see, one tablet of Berocca contains a huge dose of important vitamins and minerals, essential for helping your body to release energy from food and it also supports your immune system. It is an energy drink in effect, but a slow releasing one, it will not give you a sugar and caffeine hit then wear off in half an hour. Plus, it doesn't contain any of that rubbish, so it is actually just good for you!

How does it work?:

This is the hard part to explain. Vitamins and minerals are important in ensuring that your brain receives and sends all the information it needs to maintain memory, concentration, alertness and mood. Without vitamins and minerals your brain would slow these processes down, making you less alert, e.g. when your tired and run down.

Vitamin B - this supports your nervous system which carries information to and from your brain, it is important for healthy muscle function and also to ensure you can release energy from your food to support stamina. Vitamin C - as we all know is important for keeping colds and flu at bay, it helps support your immune system and it is a natural antioxidant, which can prevent premature aging of the skin. It helps you to absorb iron, making Berocca a great compliment to iron supplements for anaemics, and it is essential for your hair, nails, skin, teeth and gums. Zinc - helps with all of the aforementioned, but also is important for maintaining male reproductive health. Magnesium works with the Vitamin B, making sure that your nervous system and muscles are working ok.

Does it work?:

If you try this product I guarantee you will begin to notice the different over a short-ish period of time. If you don't, you must have been in pretty great shape in the first place, not meaning this is only for people who are run down, but it is a really good pick me up. And, I can positively say, it is much better than a fry up for a hang over!

Summary: A fabulous pick me up, and a great hang over cure!

These sound very healthy option to the multivitamin tabs and all those less healthy energy boosting drinks.
