Advantages: Ergonomic handle. Sturdy. Improves feet. Easy to clean. Price okay.

Disadvantages: Collects skin cells on the surface. Requires cleaning with each use.

I don't think there are many people that like feet or like to talk about feet.....particularly my feet! I have always suffered with hard skin and callouses on my feet.....I guess it's a testimony to those badly fitted shoes and heels that I wore so much in my youth(!) - and it's something that I've never really had much relief from. The only time that my feet seem to be smooth and free from hard skin is if I've spent two weeks walking on the beach, but unfortunatly I live in Gloucestershire and not in the Carribean!

The Boots Corn and Callous File is a product I bought about 3 years ago - and it is something that sits in my drawer and comes out to play every now and again. I do generally prefer to use the Ped Egg - but sometimes I can't lay my hands on it (it tends to go into the depths of my daughters room never to be seen again) and so then I will opt of this product. I bought it from Boots for around £4.00 - but I'm not aware as to how much they go for now, but I would imagine it was around the same price.....which isn't too bad.

This is effectively a file which I can use on the hard skin and calloused areas of my feel to file away the dead hard skin areas and try to strip back to some of the lovely soft pink skin that's hiding underneath. The file part is, as you would expect, made of metal and has the feel of a very fine cheese grater (lovely!) and you literally rub it in those hard skin areas and file the skin away. I find it works moderately well, but compared to the Ped Egg is it not quite up to the high standard of that because I think the actually file bits are finer and also there isn't a seperate area which collects all of the bad skin. If I use this a few times a week, if the hard skin areas on my feet start of as a 10/10 (a score of 10 being the worst), then after use it might improve to a 5/10. It's not a cure, but it is an improvement.

The metal file part can be removed and so it can easily be cleaned - which is necessary as all of the lovely dead skin cells collect on the surface and look pretty gross really. In addition to this, I do find the whole file and handle to be sturdy and hard wearing and has never rusted or looked any the worse for wear. The handle is comfortable to hold on to and easy to use at an angle, and in fact I would say the ergonomic design is preferable to the Ped.

Overall, this is an okay product. I do think the Ped Egg is slightly better - but it also costs more!

Summary: A decent product....but I prefer the Ped.
