Advantages: Wonderful rich and rich smelling, versatile product, does relax the senses
Disadvantages: Dsoesn't knock me out to sleep!
I absolutely love Boots Essentials Aromatherapy products. They stock a huge range of them in my city centre store and I think I have pretty much tried them all (and reviewed them all lol). The other day though I spotted a product in the range I hadn't yet tried and not only did I buy it cos I hadn't tried it but also I bought it cos I thought it may help with my sleeping!
Now me, well I really struggle with sleep badly. It's only happened in the past couple of years and before that I could sleep 15 hours and a few times went to sleep one day and woke up two days later (I kid you not lol). However I don't know if it's cos I'm getting older or I'm more stressed out or what but I'm lucky to get a couple of hours a night now! I'm permanently tired and grumpy and never am I refreshed.
I do know that my problems started when we got noisy neighbours who would start screaming or partying at 4am and that was the start of me feeling panic at bedtime. Nothing worse than being woken up out of your lovely slumber. So even when all is quiet here I guess I'm a bit on edge about things.
Within this particular range there are a few blends of oils available. Like this one I'm reviewing is sleep easy but there's also relaxing and a couple of other options and they do body lotions and sprays, massage oils and things like that and me, well I've lathered myself and sprayed myself like a good un to try get relaxed. I burn a candle, wear an eye mask allsorts to try get to sleep so like I say when I saw a spray costing £5.00 (this one) it was something I really did want to try out and add to my collection!
The Packaging:
100ml tall see-through glass oblong bottle with a long lid that pulls on and off a matching push button dispenser. All the writing on the bottle is in silver and I'm told on the front that it is Boots Essential Aromatherapy Sleep Easy Pillow Mist 'Peppermint, Nutmeg'. On the back of the bottle I'm told what it is and how to use it, warnings are given, ingredients and size is stated along with the recycle symbol and bar-code and contact details for Boots are given. It's a really nice looking bottle and the information on it is really nicely laid out. This as far as I'm aware of like many other products in the range is also available in a smaller size and I think that, that is 50ml and about £3.33 if my memory serves me correctly and comes in an identical bottle to this (though of course smaller lol).
A Bit About The Product According To The Bottle:
A spicy infusion of warming nutmeg and fresh peppermint essential oils, to aid a restful sleep.
To help prepare for a good night's sleep, spray a fine mist evenly around the room or over linen and clothes. When spraying onto fabric hold the bottle 20 to 30cm from fabric and spray lightly. Do not saturate. Allow to dry for a few minutes before use.
Me Using It:
Well in the bottle this is a rich orange coloured water. It sprays out evenly from the sprayer and it really does smell of rich, sweet, natural peppermint with an undertone of earthy nutmeg. It's a lovely aroma but when I first sprayed something with it to have a sniff I did wonder how the hell this would aid sleep because it's so zingy due to the peppermint!
So you can use this as air freshener, on a pillow, on your bedclothes, linen whatever! Like I spray it sprays out evenly, it isn't one bit greasy or wet and I always spray it a good half an hour onto fabric before I put my skin anywhere near it. It's a clear spray (so doesn't transfer colour anywhere) and although looks watery in the bottle I wouldn't advise you to spray silk or that sort of fabric with it as I don't now how safe that would be.
As an air freshener your looking at a good hours worth of smell. Sure the initial smell wears off a bit but it really does linger in the air fragrancing a room with a warm spicy smell. On fabrics I find it lingers on them for hours and when it comes to washing the smell out that's done with ease too.
Doe It Work Though?:
In a nutshell no. I don't think I spray this onto my pillow and it works like knock out drops. I spray some into my room too and onto my quilt and although it smells nice and fresh I have never personally felt it helps me sleep. However it does help me relax because I feel like I've prepared well for sleep type of thing.
I really like and value this product. It's a long lasting pleasant smell and a little of it goes a long way. I like it on fabrics and as a smoker it really does disguise nasty niffs as well so in my opinion it's a great little find but don't expect this to send you to sleep or keep you there....well it doesn't for me anyway lol!
Only available in Boots stores.
Summary: Worth a go if like me sleep is a foreign concept!
