Advantages: On every highstreet, Easy to get appointments, Good technology for tests

Disadvantages: Non-qualified staff used for some tests, Mislead over prescriptions, Seem to be profit motivated

Although my eye test and contact lens check-ups were reasonably good (compared to the many other opticians I have been to), I do not rate Boots highly at all.

Firstly the contact lenses they prescribed do not give me vision as good as with previous lenses. The optician did not seem too concerned by this saying it would improve with time. I disagreed as I have worn lenses for years. I have been proved correct.

Secondly, being disappointed with the service, 2 months later I asked for my contact lens prescription so I could order over the internet. I was told I needed a second check-up before this was issued. I went to this only to be told I needed another in 3 months. The only justifiable reason I can tell for this action is so that I have to keep purchasing the lenses from Boots (as no-one will sell you lenses without a prescription). My suspicion was further confirmed by the fact that the optician asked if I was on a monthly plan from Boots before saying that I needed to return 3 months later.

I went because I trusted the name. I feel let down.

They really did lie to you. By law they have to give you your prescription when you ask for it. Other than that it's a good account of your experiences with Boots!

Welcome to DooYoo. Good first op. Our elder daughter got her new (soft) lenses from Boots and it required 3 pairs before they were right. When she needs new ones again, she will NOT be going there. However, they allowed her to keep the mis-fits though, so they are useful to have as emergency spares.
