... sneaky look at the test and right away the red cross had flashed up but because we were going to look at the test together I pretended I hadn't spotted it and quickly put it on top of the medicine cabinet (with the top on the part where I pee'd, I should add.) Within seconds I'd had a result but on the packaging it says to wait a couple of minutes to get a result so I suppose this might vary from person to person. What Do You Get? How Does It Work? Inside the box are two pregnancy tests, wrapped in foil, an instructi...more

Why Would You Buy This? I know this title seems self-evident. If you suspect a pregnancy - whether or not it's planned - you want to do a test to find out if you're in the 'family way' or not ;). With my first baby (who is now a very busy and energetic toddler) I sent my husband packing to the local chemist, which happened to be a Boots, for a pregnancy test. He bought the two kit test from Boots for about £7 or so. I'd had some light spotting so figured I was having a light period, wasn't pregnant but wanted to rule out the possibility of it anyway. It was quite straight forward to use this test; take it out the packet, take the top off the test and pee on ...  Read the complete review

Standing at the pharmacy counter in Boots, I said for the second time to the distracted young man at the till 'Can I please have a bag??' I didn't hold out much hope of sneaking back through the office unnoticed with the pack of two pregnancy tests in my hand. It was January and I was convinced my expanding waistline had more to do with the Christmas overindulgence - if I'd even slightly suspected the situation, I'd have thought twice about putting away half a bottle of Brandy at New Year. As it was, the tests were only for the purpose of putting my mind at rest (and I was in a hurry to get away from the shelves of KY Jelly etc before someone from work saw me loitering ..  Read the complete review

There are certain times in a woman's life when she can be found hanging furtively around that section of Boots. You know the section, the one that's jam packed full of condoms and then if you look closely you'll find the pregnancy testing kits. Now if you're hanging around there due to the fact that you'd rather have your toe nails pulled out then be preggers then you'll notice that rather cruel and ironic joke! If you're hoping you are pregnant you'll smile smugly thinking I'll not be needing them! Back in 1987, I found myself along with my flat mate one Saturday afternoon in a very busy Boots store - so busy we ...  Read the complete review

Not all pregnancy test are equal (955 words)

Last year when we were trying for our second child I decided for pregnancy tests this time I would try the own brands as surely weeing on a stick is going to produce the same results no matter the price. However I do think I was proved wrong in this belief. The first set I tried was a Boots own brand. These are available in in most Boots stores and there are several versions of the Boots tests from the plain simple test with window and lines to the more advance digital tests. The test I am reviewing is the simple line test kit. These are available for either £4.10 for one or £5.10 for two. The kit itself ****************** The ...  Read the complete review

Boots Pregnancy Test Kit: A good own brand pregnancy test (411 words)

I found myself looking at that aisle in Boots about a year ago looking for a pregnancy test. I was late and after my last experience of being late turning into my daughter I thought a pregnancy test was a good idea. I would have usually gone for the Superdrug brand but not having a Superdrug near me at the time, Boots was the next best thing. The Boots pregnancy test comes in a blue box with a picture of the test on the front and it claims to be able to detect a pregnancy 4 days before your period is due. Excellent stuff. The Boots pregnancy test come in a single pack for £6.99 or a double pack of digital ones for £12.99. I grabbed the Boots own ...  Read the complete review
