Advantages: Good value, really moisturising

Disadvantages: Very rich and greasy

I tend to buy aqueous cream these days instead of E45 for dry skin as it works in basically the same way but it is so much better value than E45 is. The aqueous cream in boots is £4.05 but this is for a huge 500 gram tub that lasts for absolutely ages.

The boots aqueous cream contains liquid paraffin and white soft paraffin and is a white cream used to treat a variety of dry skin conditions. The cream has a really thick consistency to it and feels quite greasy when you rub it on the skin.

It takes ages to rub the aqueous cream into the skin and it does leave a greasy layer but it is the best thing I have used for dry skin especially when it is itchy and sore. Almost straight away you can feel the relief and it really soothes my skin and leaves it feeling much more comfortable than before.

I tend to use it only at night as I am worried about the greasy layer it leaves staining my clothes and I have noticed greasy patches on my pyjamas afterwards. My skin also feels really slick for a few hours after using it but as I am at home this doesn't matter but I wouldn't like to go out with it on. I do tend to use quite a lot of the cream so this might be the reason my skin gets so greasy. Luckily the next morning my skin is no longer greasy and is instead left looking and feeling beautifully moisturised and just generally more healthy.

If my skin is feeling really dry I also use the aqueous cream in the bath instead of a shower gel and it is really good for cleaning the skin as well as moisturising it. I just rub it into wet skin and then wash it off and my skin is left clean and I know that the hot water isn't going to leave my skin feeling dry and itchy.
I have on occasion also used it on my face to remove make-up when I have run out of make-up remover and although it did remove all my make-up I did notice it left my face looking a bit congested the next day as I think it was just far too rich for my facial skin.

One other thing that the cream is good for is in the summer after being out in the sun. It works just as well if not better than an expensive after sun would.
For me boots aqueous cream is a fantastic product and one that I would highly recommend for people looking for a really rich cream for dry skin.
