Advantages: Easy to understand, you can find out when you conceived

Disadvantages: Pricey and that blasted egg timer!

My fiancé and me have been trying for another baby for some months now since losing our first child - Jack. I have used this test once before - last month, in fact, when Auntie Flo was a few days late. Sadly that time I got a "not pregnant" and AF showed up moments later. After paying over £10 in Morrisons to find that out I got a bit wiser this cycle and did a cheap test first to confirm I was pregnant. It was a glorious day when we discovered I am! What makes this test better than the usual ones is that there is no ambiguity about what the results mean - you get words rather than symbols to interpret and you can also get a conception indicator to tell you (if you are pregnant) when it happened. You do need to consult the leaflet on this though as pregnant 3+ means you are actually 5+ weeks pregnant going by the way doctors date your pregnancy.

So how do you use it then?

To the uninitiated:

*First removed the test stick from the foil.
*Take off the blue cap
*If you are feeling brave you can hold the absorbent end downwards into your "urine stream" for 5 seconds.*
*Or if you have a container you can urinate into that and then place the absorbent end into the urine for 20 seconds.*
*Then pop the cap back on and place on a flat surface.
*An egg timer symbol will drive you crazy whilst you wait for it to work. I suggest distracting yourself at this point, if you can, as it feels like it takes forever!
*Hey presto - the result will appear.

If you are on a tight budget then I would just get a supermarkets own brand. This one is really pricey and not really all that necessary. But if you like gadgets and want a bit more info on how far along you are then it's worth buying. Just to let you know I did not find it for under a tenner in Sainsburys or Boots either so you should probably shop around to find the best price...I have heard Tesco do them cheaper.

It says you can use this test 4 days before AF is due but, as it costs a fair bit, I would wait til it's definitely late.

*First urine of the day has the most hcg (pregnancy hormone) in it so use that if you can.

Summary: A luxury prenancy test
