Advantages: Simple to use
Disadvantages: Expensive
As I am now expecting my fourth child as you may well guess I have had a few experiences with pregnancy tests and this clear blue test was the most recent one I have taken that told me I was expecting bump now at 23 weeks.
The tests come in packs of 2 although you can buy them separately it was only a pound dearer for the pack of 2 and the advantage is when you are in shock and think really am I you can reach for the second to rest your doubts. At retail of £13 they seem very expensive but when you want to know the results fast and these promise the world that is the last thing on your mind.
These tests are 99% accurate and can be used anytime from 4 days before your period although for best results it is recommended to wait until after you missed period and recommendation is to use the test early in the morning is this is the time that pregnancy hormones are most noticeable in your urine.
Two tests come in the same box but are wrapped separately in a foil package each which needs to be removed. Then the test comes in 2 parts the main part of the test which is in a plastic cover and has the pregnancy strip protected underneath with just a small piece of the strip visible from the end. This is also the part that has the digital display on for you to view your result.
The second part is actually just the lid to protect the visible end of the strip that you remove to use the test and then put back on while awaiting the result.
It is very simple to use either hold this strip downwards into your urine stream for 5 seconds or you can collect some of your urine in a container and hold the strip into this again downward for 20 seconds.
Then it is the waiting game although the box tells you to wait up to 90 seconds for the results to show mine actually appeared much quicker maybe around 30 seconds and there was there was the words PREGNANT.
While waiting for your result a small egg timer flashes with the words wait flashing on and off this is great I think as it shows you that the test is working correctly.Directly underneath the words pregnant it informed me I was 2-3 weeks pregnant so I went and told my husband the good news and contemplated using the second test again but we decided we would wait a few days.
The box warns to hold the test downwards and then leave on a flat surface while waiting for the result and not to tip it the opposite way as it can affect the results of the test being accurate. It also tells you to confirm after with your doctor but this is obvious as when you are pregnant you need to book in with the midwife anyway.
The pregnant or not pregnant sign stays visible for 24 hours the box states but mine lasted for 3 days before it faded away I have to admit I did keep checking the test purely down to shock.
Around 4 days later I was too impatient and decided to take the next test to make sure it was true as I had been told after my operation it would be highly unlikely I would conceive again and with being on the ill as well sure to say it was a major shock. So I repeated as I did the first day and this time in around 20 seconds PREGNANT popped up but this time it stated 3 weeks plus.
What I love about these tests are they are so simple to use there is no am I aren't I no trying t guess as the line is a little faint this is a clear yes you are pregnant or no you are not pregnant written in plain English. On top of this easy reading result it also has the added advantage of having a conception calendar so it can tell you just how far along you are ad on the box it also explains in clear terms that when it states you are 2 to 3 weeks pregnant this means when you conceived and when doctors work it out this will mean you are 4-5weeks pregnant so you know what to expect when you're visiting the doctors.
Over all although this tests are expensive considering you can pick up supermarket brand test for around £4 for 2 the simplicity of these tests and the added benefit of the conception calculator these are a winner every time there is no guessing the result is in black and white and you get the result you need.
Summary: A fantastic pregnancy test
