Clearblue Digital Pregnancy Test with Conception Indicator
Advantages: Works early,
Disadvantages: Scope for panic
I will start this review by saying I have somewhat mixed views about this pregnancy test. The technology in it is amazing but it the scope for worrying women unnecessarily is massive.
I purchased these test as they were on offer in boots, and I love a gadget so I was quite keen to rtry them out I paid £12.99 for 2. While this is expensive for pregnancy tests it isn't overly expensive for a brand named one.
I was trying to conceive my daughter and was charting my temps and using ovulation sticks so I knew exactly when I conceived so while I wanted to try the conception indicator it wasn't massively important in terms of dating my pregnancy. A massive plus point for this brand is that they are sensitive. I tested 10 days past ovulation or 3 weeks and 4 days pregnant and it gave me a pregnant 1-2 weeks. This was accurate for me as when doctors date your pregnancy they add 2 weeks on.
My issue with this test occurred as I decided to keep the second test for a week later to ease my mind that things were progressing as they should. Testing a week later I still got a 1-2 weeks which worried me massively. Fortunately due to passed problems while having my son I had an early scan booked which reassured me baby was ok. Even after this though I wanted to see the test say 2-3 weeks or even the magical 3+weeks so I bought a second packet. I next tested when I was 6 weeks pregnant then again at 8 weeks and I never got more than a 1-2 weeks pregnant. Obviously things went ok because my daughter is now a boisterous 10 month old but the stress these tests caused me was awful.
The clearblue pregnancy test comes in foil packaging so you can be assured they haven't been tampered with. To use you either hold it downwards in midstream urine for 5 seconds or dip it into a container of urine for 20 seconds. The test strip at the end then turns pink to indicate that it has absorbed the urine and is working. The pregnant sign often comes up before the how many weeks and there is a timer sign that spins around to signal that it is working it out. Once you have the result it is supposed to stay there for 24hours, although mine lasted for 3 days each time. After this time it disappears as the battery runs out. You cannot replace the batteries so if it is important to you then I would recommend taking a photo of the test.
All in all I love the clearblue's ability to tell you, you are pregnant early and in a simple manner, no interpreting lines here! I do feel though in my experience they are more trouble than they are worth. While I would highly recommend clearblue, I cannot recommend this particular test as they caused me so much stress and worry.
Summary: I cannot reccomend these based on my personal experiences
