I used to get the odd case of cystitis and when I did I (like another reviewer mentioned) used to get the cranberry powders from boots which work very well. I then did a 30 day detox which included taking a cranberry supplement every day. After finishing the detox I continued to take the supplements as well as keeping up the healthy diet as much as possible. I have not suffered from cystitis since and I first did the detox about 2 years ago. Cranberry is also supposed to help with gum disease and stomach ulcers as it contains proanthocyanidins which prevent the adhesion of certain of bacteria (that's how it helps stop urinary infections too). When my husband first started having prostate problems, the first thing people told him was to start eating cranberries in any way, shape or form he could find them. This surprised me, so I began to research what effect cranberries has on the body, and lo and behold, this strange "fruit" is actually very good for you! The first site I found was www.all-creatures.org which encouraged people to have cranberry sauce with their tofu turkey on Thanksgiving. While that's a very nice idea (even with the real bird), this site is mostly concerned with prostate cancer and its prevention. This site notes that there is an anti-tumor effect in cranberry ...

Has anyone else out there noticed just how fashionable cranberries have become recently? A few years back, you would have struggled to get anything flavoured with this fruit (other than the sauce that appeared at Christmas time to go with your turkey that is), but now you can get a whole assortment of juices, squashes, presses, alcopops and cocktails that all contain cranberry. And I must admit that I have jumped onto this bandwagon too now by writing this review! :-) So why has cranberry suddenly become so popular then?
