Advantages: I found this very effective, does what it says on the label,
Disadvantages: very expensive, smells horrible, you need to leave on for hours best overnight
I bought this liquid for my children when the dreaded letter arrived saying nits was going around yet again. I have tried several other nit lotions and potions before. The last I tried was the mousse which was the biggest waste of money I believe has ever been spent. I read the label did everything it said and in the end we still has the nits.
Anyway, the lotion is very smelly and it is unwise to use if you or your children have asthma due to the ingredients etc.
To start using this you pour onto the hair section by section until the whole head is covered completely with the lotion. It is very annoying if like my daughter you have very long hair. If this is the case it takes ages.
There is enough lotion in the bottle to do four heads but depending on the length of hair for each person it usually does more. I have 2 boys, 1 hubby, a daughter and myself. All the men have short hair and my daughter and I have longish hair. The solution managed to do all our heads and there was about a quarter left.
It is quite expensive, I believe I paid £9.99. This being so it was well worth the price to get rid of those little blighters.
The best thing I have found especially where children are concerned is to put the solution on their hair when they have eaten their tea. Then keep them inside (I think its a little embarrassing personally to let them go out with nit lotion on) They then carry on as normal, watch t.v, read or run around etc. I think the best benefit you get from the expense of this lotion is to leave them with it on overnight. I know it means getting up early on a school day to wash it out and condition their hair but if you take it off too soon it doesn't work as well.
When they have had their hair washed you then need to use a nit comb and comb through their hair section by section to get rid of the dead eggs and nits etc. It is a very tedious job and by the time you have done 3 heads and your own you are sick of the mention of nits.
I found this solution the best I have ever bought and it was well worth the money because it did get rid of them. The only embarrassing bit is where you have to go into the chemist and speak quietly asking for nit lotion. The first time I did this people did hear me and moved several steps back. I now try to ask when the shop is empty. Its also a little embarrassing that the lotion bottle and box have the words ; kills head lice, crab lice and scabies. This is the worst bit when your little 6 year old asks you what a crab lice is. Other than that it is well worth the money and I would give it 10/10 for its effectiveness.
Summary: a bit smelly and expensive but does what it says and kills nits dead
