Advantages: Easy to prepare, don't taste too awful and are good for when sick as well

Disadvantages: Salty!

For the past 3 years Dioralyte and Eloctrolades have both been a big part of my life. Having an eating disorder and having once been a laxative abuser I have had these on prescription and take about 8 of them a day, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on how ill I am of course. I have had all the different flavours and have boxes everywhere in my home of them and the sachets they come in are great for popping into a handbag or whatever as well.

The box I get mine is representative of the flavour, so the lemon flavour I have in front of me now are in a yellow and white box and so on and they also come in raspberry flavour and a flavour meant to be plain too. I get mine in boxes of 20 which I think is the only size these are available to buy in though like I stated earlier I get mine on prescription and because I suffer with Hypothyroidism I am exempt from ever paying for my prescriptions...thankfully!

On the back of the box we are told a bit about the product and how to use them, precautions/warnings are given as are the ingredients and contact details for the manufacturer are also listed. Each sachet tells you what they are on each and how to use them etc on them too and they are easy to open being made of paper and foil inside.

A Bit About The Product According To The Information Given On The Packaging:

Dioralyte replaces body fluids and salts lost during illness. Dioralyte is recommended for the correction of water and salt loss in infants, children and adults and for the treatment of watery diarrhea of various causes.

Using Them:

Dissolve one sachet into 200ml of drinking water.

Dose:

Adults, including the elderly one or two sachets after each loose motion.
Children: One sachet after a loose motion

Or as directed by a Doctor (For me its one after every time I'm sick or two after each loose bowel motion).

Using Them:

Easy to open, I simply pour the powdery mix into water and give it a quick stir. It makes no sound, gives the fragrance and colour off depending on the flavour your having and you simply knock it back. They do taste of the flavour you choose but salty too however they don't taste vile though of course they're not really tasty or anything like that lol.

Do They Work?:

For me they do. Like it says on the packaging these can be used for any reasons you have loose motions, even self induced like mine (according to my Dr). I get very weak and a lack of energy and my potassium levels were constantly dropping and threatening to give me a stroke before I found these and was prescribed them. Now I can put my salt levels back up with the 30ml (per sachet) of potassium these have within them. Also they contain glucose which gives a little boost of energy which again is important for me with my illness.

They don't firm your motion up, or stop pain they simply replace fluids and salts lost from being ill and personally I recommend them to many people after being generally run down. They are not a miracle worker but they do something for me!

Available in all good chemists, and from the Doctor, if buying them a box of 20 should cost around the £3.00 mark.

Summary: Recommended from me!
