Quick Water Relief
Member Name: topsyturvy
Advantages: works well, tastes ok
Disadvantages: horrible texture to drink
I sometimes suffer from an upset stomach which can be quite horrible at times and draining. I have a lactose intolerance so this can be the issue sometimes and getting better is always essential which is why I like to use Dioralyte as out of everything I have used this seems to be very effective. When having diarrhoea it can take a lot of liquids out of your body but this is what is good about Dioralyte as it helps to replace these. You can get this in two different flavours but I prefer the blackcurrant one as it is quite nice. This can be used as well as diarrhoea tablets but I think they both help in completely different ways, depending on your symptoms.
Dioralyte comes in quite a distinct box it has a bold logo on the front on a white box and some liquid shaped figures on the front as well as it being colour themed in purple to match the blackcurrant flavour. In a box, you will get an instruction leaflet and it includes 6 sachets, on the reverse are some instructions on how to use these. Each sachet is included in the box and on the front it says 'fast and effective replacement of lost water and body salts'. The box is useful to have in the house and depending on how often you suffer these should last a while and have a good best before date on them. This stuff is very straightforward to take and on the box are some warnings.
DIORALYTE BLACKCURRANT SACHETS
To start with, the precautions stated on the box are that if suffering from intestinal obstruction, diabetes, kidney or liver failure or low potassium or a sodium diet, ask a doctor before using this. Also if an infant is under 2 years old with diarrhoea then see a doctor first. These should be stored in a cool, dry place and these should be kept out of reach of children. So, Dioralyte is a formula which is to replace essential body water and salts, to treat diarrhoea in infants, children and adults. It is important to use this early on to avoid dehydrating. I normally use this after having diarrhoea symptoms to ensure I do not get to the stage of feeling dehydrated and weak.
So, to use this is easy enough, you need to dissolve a sachet into 200ml of water, use drinking water and it will make the formula up instantly, ready to use. This should be consumed right away, in adults you should have one or two sachets after every time having diarrhoea and for children it should be one sachet for every movement. If you do not recover within 24-48 hours then talk to a doctor, if vomiting occurs whilst having diarrhoea then small amounts of this should be taken quite regularly. It is easy enough to open and pour this into water, I put it into a glass and it is like lilac coloured sugar crystals and it dissolves instantly into the water.
The water remains clear but the formula seems slightly thicker, it is weird but it has an oily texture to it and feels quite fatty to drink with the slightest hint of blackcurrant. To drink it isn't the most pleasant as it seems a lot to drink down, the blackcurrant makes it that bit easier but it seems quite oily to drink even though it is good for you. Once fully consumed it should start to work. Within a few hours of having this, I always feel a bit better, less weak and it does usually stop me from having anymore symptoms. I never find I have to ever use more than one sachet which I'd say shows it must work very well, it always restores lost water.
If you ever suffer from diarrhoea, this is definitely something to have in the house as it does help instantly put water back into the body. It may not be the nicest thing to drink but it is worth it as it does have good results and works. I have been using this for over a year now and I don't always use it but when I have really bad symptoms when I feel drained then I use this as this is normally the time when I need to use it. It is great also as can be used on infants and children as well as adults so is effective on everyone. I would recommend this one to anyone who gets diarrhoea and it is a medicine cupboard essential for any household.
