Advantages: None

Disadvantages: Incompetent and rude service, unsuitable glasses

Rang to book an eyetest at Dollond & Aitchison and when I turned up for the appointment, they directed me to the eyetest waiting area and promptly forgot about me, so I had to rebook. One I'd had the test and got some new glasses, I was having problems with them, so I went back to complain. The person who dealt with me was rude, so the next day I rang the manager to complain. A while later, I had the person who'd upset me the day before on the phone, clearly annoyed that I'd complained about her. I gave her short shrift as I wasn't really interested in what she'd got to say. I've since emailed them to complain and got no responce, which illustrates what they really think of their customers.

Summary: Dollond & Aitchison seem to stand for incompetent and rude service & an uncaring attitude

Just to redress the balance a little, I had great service from D&A in the Metro Centre, Gateshead. I really like the frames they recommended and have never been reluctant to be seen in my glasses! Also, every time I have broken my glasses (millions of times!) they have fixed them quickly and free of charge and with a pleasant smile. You were very unlucky. It can't have been the Metro Centre store....

I dont think I'd have got past the being forgotton about in the waiting room stage -I'd never have re booked. I find that the opticians that aren't a chain have a higher standard of custumer care
