Advantages: an assistant will kiss your bottom to make a sale

Disadvantages: pushy sales team, lies, overcharging

I used to work in D&A, and I can tell you this as a fact: all they care about are sales. I saw people getting *fired* and *diciplined* for not making enough sales, or not being pushy enough on the customer.
We were encouraged to use phrasings such as "I think you *should* buy this" instead of "What about this?"

At our board meetings, a list of all of the sales was presented, and those with the least sales would be re-trained on 'customer service'.
The service is run on nothing but lies, I've seen happy customers, who were duped into beleiving they paid the lowest price for their lenses, when most were overcharged by 300% mark-ups on plain lenses.

As D&A are franchises, they are free to set their own prices, so you'd see many branches using a "we'll charge what we can get away with" approach. Go into any D&A and ask for a SET PRICE LIST, - you will not get one, because they don't exist. Each franchise will simply charge a customer as much as they think the customer is willing to pay! It's daylight robbery.
I've also seen unhappy customers, (wrong prescriptions mainly) we were told to refer these to the 'head office', where complaints are ignored.

If a lens is out of stock, we sometimes got away with using +/- 0.25 above or below their prescription.
I've moved to a better opticians now, and I am never going to let any of my family and friends go to D&A, now that I know what they are all about.

Conclusion: Overpriced, as they work in franchises it's obvious all they care about are their sales. RUBBISH! When you have a cpomplaint they forward you to customer service which ignored you!
