My experience with D&A has been nothing but pleasing, their staff in both the Oxford, Reading and call centre in Scotland have been pleasant and the results swift. In particular I wish to comment on contact lenses by post, their service and lenses/solutions are some of the best I've used. The lenses arrive each month in a blue ... Read the complete review

I got Contact Lenses by Post (CLBP) for about 2 years from Dolland and Aitchison. It all began about 4 years ago when through Nectar I was sent a voucher for a free eye test, free contact lens assessment and trial and 50% off glasses when signing up to the CLBP. I went along to my appointment, I was first impressed by the cleanliness of the store ... Read the complete review

This may sound very strange to some people but if there is one thing I am terrified of it is eyes! I have no idea where this strange phobia came from but I am unfortunately stuck with it and putting my eye make up on is a nightmare as I go all squeamish! I had been getting a few headaches and as I do work on my PC most of the day at work then go ... Read the complete review

Just lately my eyes have been hurting and things have been a tad bit blurry so I thought I'd book myself an eye test. I was very blessed to receive a leaflet through the door for a free eye test (normally £27) from Dolland and Aitchison so decided to go ahead with it. I used their website to book my test which was really easy to do. I ... Read the complete review

I used to work in D&A, and I can tell you this as a fact: all they care about are sales. I saw people getting *fired* and *diciplined* for not making enough sales, or not being pushy enough on the customer. We were encouraged to use phrasings such as "I think you *should* buy this" instead of "What about ... Read the complete review

At the start of this year I had began to suffer with headaches. Having previously never had problems with my eyes this was the last thought when considering what the cause of these headaches might be. When the doctor suggested an eye test I realised I had not had one for over 5 years! In my job my eyes are EXTREMELY important to me for ... Read the complete review

I had my first ever visit to an opticians about 4 months ago. Unfortunately at the time I didn't know about this website otherwise I might have had an idea of costs and things like that before I showed up. As it was I went in blind in more ways that one! The actual eye test was all very well done. The staff were all very friendly and ... Read the complete review

I was a customer with D&A at 3 different branches (Barkingside, Hackney and Coventry) over a 7 year period and unfortunately I have to say that the customer service at all of them was poor. The company must have forgotten to include anything about listening to customers' needs in its staff training because they tried to sell me ... Read the complete review

After recently noticing that reading signs while driving was a bit tricky, I thought I had better get my eyes tested. I receive the www.moneysavingexpert.com weekly email with bargain offers and deals (I highly recommend it), I noticed that they had an offer to have a free eye test at Dolland & Aitchison and receive 500 nectar points, so I ... I purchased some sunglasses from Dolland and Atkinson and was very happy with the service. If anyone is after a pair of sunglasses you should check out their designer sunglasses website at http://www.designersunglasses.co.uk/ , on there you will find loads of different makes of sunglasses at very competitive prices. I only found out about the ... Read the complete review

I'm currently in the final stages of finalizing a Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) contacts prescription with Dolland & Aitchison. Due to having a complex prescription, it's meant many visits back to D&A over the course of a couple of months, so I've had a good introductory insight to this company whom I'd never used before. I went for an eye test last year and needed vari-focals - great glasses and got used to them quickly. I went back a year later as a lens was scratched and I thought perhaps I could replace it for about £40. However the optician said my ight had changed slightly and recommended getting another new pair, and keep the old ones as spare. The new ... Read the complete review

I have recently been for an eye check at Dolland and Aitchison and had a very good experience. I had not been for a check for about 10 years - I know this is far too long but as my eyes don't tend to change much - so I expected to have a bit of a lecture about how this was too long etc. But I was pleasantly surprised that only a passing comment ... Having had glasses since the age of 11 I have been using private opticians for over 20 years and started to get fed up with the lack of choice so thought I'd pay a visit to the D&A store in Cheltenham. This is my experience: Eye Test The optician I saw was really nice and put me at ease so this was a good start. The number of ... Read the complete review

I HAVE BEEN TO SPECSAVERS, BUT TO MY DISMAY
I went to Specsavers, was with them for a numerous
amount of years. I started off wearing glasses and
then decided to wear contact lenses. However,
Specsavers came me the wrong prescription - it
was too strong for my eyes. This resulted in a tear
gland culmilation problem in both my eyes (dry eyes)
and a variety of eye infections. I ended up changing
my opticians and chose DOLLAND AND AITCHISON in
Oxford Circus and they were amazing. They checked
my eyes throughly (more tests than Specsavers) and
gave me the right prescription. I have not had problems
with my eyes since. My checkup was 5 years overdue,
but when tested, my eyes had barely changed. With
Specsavers, I went regularly for checkups but my eyes
were worst each time.

I didn't intend to write a review on Dollond & Aitchison, but browsing the categories and coming across some of the opinions and experiences here, I felt I needed to redress the balance a little bit. I first registered with D&A about 8 years ago, when a money-off voucher tempted me away from a local independent (overpriced) ... Read the complete review

I had just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and my vision was all over the place. I went to D & A (High Wycombe)who checked my eyesight and gave me a prescription. I then went on to spend £300 on glasses. Little did I know that 2 weeks later once my medication kicked in my vision would change and my specs would be useless for me. My stupidity perhaps ? But I would have expected the optician to advise me of this before ordering glasses. Pretty irritated. On the positive side, I went to the Victoria Street, SW1 branch who were really helpful with a broken pair of glasses.....

I am writing this from the point of view of a customer and somebody who worked for Dolland and Aitchison. I was curious to know after leaving the company, what people thought of the service, so I came onto this site. A little annoyed to hear that a lot of people think the Opticians are rude and I have read a few times that they blame ... Read the complete review
