Advantages: makes you calm and focused and stressfree
Disadvantages: dropper is a bit inconsistent, very expensive
I started taking driving lessons a few months back and would be a nervous bag some 4-5 hours prior to the arrival of the driving instructor , this was a bit surprising as I am not normally a nervous person.
I literally had panic attacks I think , with hands and feet going ice-cold, rapid heart beat, frequent visits to the loo and in general feeling very anxious.
Somebody recommended the Nelson Bach's rescue remedy for it and I thought of giving it a try.
Ingredients of medicinal value in the rescue remedy:
-------------------------------------------------
I actually gave this a try for one good reason-- it is claimed to be completely natural.
Rock Rose - for terror and panic
Star of Bethlehem - for shock
Clematis - for inattentiveness and to counteract faintness
Impatiens - for irritation and impatience
Cherry Plum - for irrational thoughts and lack of self control
Whats it meant for:
------------------
Restoring inner calm, control and focus helping people(and animals) manage their daily stresses and anxieties in general.. like in bereavement, all sorts of exams and tests, ups and downs in life, etc.
Who can take it:
----------------
Well everybody in fact, it seems the NHS even recommends it to pregnant ladies under supervision , children and pets too.
Dosage and How to take it :
----------------------------
The traditional dropper comes in 10ml and 20ml bottles. Just add four drops to a glass of water and sip at intervals, or drop neat onto the tongue from the dropper(quicker action).
my opinion-- if you are not used to alcohol based medicines just add it to a tsp of water and have it for immediate action as the taste is a bit strong.
Can be taken upto 4 drops 4 times every 4hrs-6hrs .
Alternative method of taking it:
---------------------------------
Also available as spray(onto tongue or neck-behind ears)
Pastilles :like chewy toffee
Cream to rub on(but have heard this is not so effective)
Effectiveness:
--------------
It really calmed me down the first time I had taken it with water that too only after having two drops. I felt as if I was involved in everything but more focused and in control yet distanced from the action.
I had it once more later much later on, but I had really got over my initial driving care with practise by then and I am not sure till date if the thing had had a placebo effect or had really done a magic.
I would still recommend it to people. I would'nt try it on my little ones as I never feel safe .
Not sure how it goes with pets though but I have heard some good feedback.
Availibility :
-----------
Most supermarkets and pharmacies store it.
Price:
------
10mls: £5:75 (in tesco)
20mls: £7:50
Tips:
-----
Try having it with a spoonful of water if you do not like the strong taste for an immediate action . Have it atleast 15 mins before your exam or whatever emergency situation you are facing.
Dropper takes up only one drop at a time if not squeezed - as its hard to know how much has actually entered the dropper.
Not sure it would work in the same manner for everyone though.
Summary: great just give it a try.
